Transparent Model for State Management
2013
To ensure optimum governance of the state (regions, sectors, specific activities) all management system units (tasks, functions and services, normative environment, institutional framework, budget funding) have to operate in strong cooperation and consistency, which should be defined by corresponding documents. Unfortunately this logical relevance does not always exist. Documents and information are weakly connected, because of the huge complexity of units that objectively hinders implementation of the strong linkage and seriously weakens management quality. The situation can be radically improved by usage of ontological methodology for development of the back-office of the management syste…

Consumer receptiveness to international retail expansion: a cross-cultural study of perceptions of social and economic influence of foreign retailers
2015
Guided by the work of Samiee (1993. Journal of Business Research, 27 (2): 103–129), Sakarya, Eckman, and Hyllegard (2007. International Marketing Review, 24 (2): 208–238), and Alexander et al. (2010. International Journal of Retail & Distribution Management, 38 (3): 160–172), a cross-cultural analysis was undertaken to examine consumer receptiveness to domestic market entry by foreign apparel specialty retailers. More specifically, this study explored differences in consumers' perceptions of the influence of foreign apparel specialty retailers on social, cultural, and economic development across three countries: Spain, Turkey, and the USA. Consumer receptiveness was measured as beliefs abou…
Continuous mobile banking usage and relationship commitment – A multi-country assessment
2015
Although conducting banking transactions via mobile phones, smart phones and tablets has become popular in many countries, major gaps exist in our understanding of those who use this technology, particularly how experienced users perceive mobile banking. Drawing from the literature on mobile banking adoption, continuous usage behavior and post-adoption of technology behavior, the authors shed light on the nature of experienced mobile banking users’ relationship commitment (RC) with their bank and personal finances. The study reveals changes in commitment and shows that mobile banking offers substantial added value to users. Overall, this research will help managers better understand the imp…
Regarding Quality Management System in Aerospace Industry Organizations
2019
This paper illustrate the quality management system in an organization with field of activities in manufacturing of aerospace components. The aerospace standard of quality management system is EN AS 9100, based on ISO 9001. Additional to the EN AS 9100 quality management system standard requirements, the organizations in aerospace field, need to integrate in their quality system a lot of additional process and regulations specific in aerospace industry. The big aircraft producers have designed their requirements in such a way that all approved suppliers, which are respecting these requirements, can manufacture high quality products. These requirements are manufacturing process specification…
Smart multi-carrier energy system: Optimised energy management and investment analysis
2016
This paper proposes an optimised Energy Management System for a multi-carrier hub, which integrates two energy distribution networks, for hydrogen and electricity. The economic sustainability of a real-life instantiation of such a system has been analysed as well. The Energy Management System has been developed by means of a multi-objective optimisation algorithm, the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II, implemented using MATLAB®. The achieved results consist in a series of set-points defining the working conditions of the plant for a chosen time horizon. Data provided by this process also show the effectiveness of the adopted optimisation approach. The financial analysis is performe…
A novel heuristics-based energy management system for a multi-carrier hub enriched with solid hydrogen storage
2014
In this paper, an efficient optimization algorithm for the energy management of a grid-connected energy hub plant is proposed. The Simulated Annealing algorithm is adopted for the solution of the energy management problem aiming at the profit maximization for the owner of the energy hub plant. The use of a heuristic algorithm was required by the non-linearity of the efficiencies of each component in the energy transformation stages. The proposed heuristics is applied to a large energy hub, corresponding to the simulation of the test-bed that is being designed and developed inside the ongoing INGRID European research project.
Bayesian prediction inM/M/1 queues
1994
Simple queues with Poisson input and exponential service times are considered to illustrate how well-suited Bayesian methods are used to handle the common inferential aims that appear when dealing with queue problems. The emphasis will mainly be placed on prediction; in particular, we study the predictive distribution of usual measures of effectiveness in anM/M/1 queue system, such as the number of customers in the queue and in the system, the waiting time in the queue and in the system, the length of an idle period and the length of a busy period.
An advanced pavement management system based on a genetic algorithm for a motorway network
2013
Maintenance and improvement, through the rehabilitation, of the road infrastructure is a strategic and priority objective for road agencies, nevertheless the economic resources required are often inadequate. Within road management, the pavement management system (PMS) plays an essential role because of both the money needed and the performance that should be provided in terms of safety, ride quality and transport cost. The PMS is based on searching for a balanced solution between the lowest cost and the increased level of performance (i.e. pavement condition). In this paper a PMS multi-objective optimization method, was proposed, using a genetic algorithm (GA) to identify the best solution …
