Immersions of compact riemannian manifolds into a ball of a complex space form

There are some classical theorems on non-immersibility of compact riemannian manifolds with sectional curvature bounded from above given by Tompkins, O’Neill, Chern, Kuiper and Moore (see [3], pages 221-226). More recently, attention has been paid to the case of immersions into a geodesic ball of a simply connected space form, and some conditions of non-immersibility in such a ball have been proved. In particular, estimates for the mean curvature of a complete immersion into a geodesic ball have been obtained by Jorge and Xavier [11] and a corresponding rigidity theorem for compact hypersurfaces has been proved by Markvorsen [14]. Generic properties of singular trajectories

Abstract Let M be a σ-compact C∞ manifold of dimension d ≥ 3. Consider on M a single-input control system : x (t) = F 0 (x(t)) + u(t) F 1 (x(t)) , where F0, F1 are C∞ vector fields on M and the set of admissible controls U is the set of bounded measurable mappings u : [0Tu]↦ R , Tu > 0. A singular trajectory is an output corresponding to a control such that the differential of the input-output mapping is not of maximal rank. In this article we show that for an open dense subset of the set of pairs of vector fields (F0, F1), endowed with the C∞-Whitney topology, all the singular trajectories are with minimal order and the corank of the singularity is one.

Star calculus on Jacobi manifolds

Abstract We study the Gerstenhaber bracket on differential forms induced by the two main examples of Jacobi manifolds: contact manifolds and l.c.s. manifolds. Moreover, we obtain explicit expressions of the generating operators and the derivations on the algebra of multivector fields. We define star operators for contact manifolds and l.c.s. manifolds and we study some of its properties.

Total curvatures of compact complex submanifolds in $$C/P^n$$

LetM be a complex submanifold in\(C/P^n\). We define the total curvatures ofM and we get a local interpretation of them. Finally, we give a topological characterization for the total (non-absolute) curvature of complex hypersurfaces in\(C/P^n\).

On the quasi-isometric and bi-Lipschitz classification of 3D Riemannian Lie groups.

AbstractThis note is concerned with the geometric classification of connected Lie groups of dimension three or less, endowed with left-invariant Riemannian metrics. On the one hand, assembling results from the literature, we give a review of the complete classification of such groups up to quasi-isometries and we compare the quasi-isometric classification with the bi-Lipschitz classification. On the other hand, we study the problem whether two quasi-isometrically equivalent Lie groups may be made isometric if equipped with suitable left-invariant Riemannian metrics. SURVEY Towards a global view of dynamical systems, for the C1-topology

AbstractThis paper suggests a program for getting a global view of the dynamics of diffeomorphisms, from the point of view of the C1-topology. More precisely, given any compact manifold M, one splits Diff1(M) into disjoint C1-open regions whose union is C1-dense, and conjectures state that each of these open sets and their complements is characterized by the presence of: •either a robust local phenomenon;•or a global structure forbidding this local phenomenon. Other conjectures state that some of these regions are empty. This set of conjectures draws a global view of the dynamics, putting in evidence the coherence of the numerous recent results on C1-generic dynamics.

Equilibrium measures for uniformly quasiregular dynamics

We establish the existence and fundamental properties of the equilibrium measure in uniformly quasiregular dynamics. We show that a uniformly quasiregular endomorphism $f$ of degree at least 2 on a closed Riemannian manifold admits an equilibrium measure $\mu_f$, which is balanced and invariant under $f$ and non-atomic, and whose support agrees with the Julia set of $f$. Furthermore we show that $f$ is strongly mixing with respect to the measure $\mu_f$. We also characterize the measure $\mu_f$ using an approximation property by iterated pullbacks of points under $f$ up to a set of exceptional initial points of Hausdorff dimension at most $n-1$. We consider the calculus Ψ*,* de(X, deΩ½) of double-edge pseudodifferential operators naturally associated to a compact manifold X whose boundary is the total space of a fibration. This fits into the setting of boundary fibration structures, and we discuss the corresponding geometric objects.
