A polydiagnostic scale for dimensional classification of endogenous depression. Derivation and validation.

Several operational diagnoses (OPD) for endogenous depression have been proposed. However--though aiming at similar clinical concepts--the amount of association and agreement between different OPD is rather low. In this study the relationship between eight OPD (Research Diagnostic Criteria, DSM-III, Michigan Discrimination Index, Newcastle Scale I, Newcastle Scale II, Taylor-Abrams Criteria, Vienna Research Criteria, Hamilton Endogenomorphy Index) was assessed by applying latent trait analyses to the classificatory data of these eight OPD which were rated simultaneously in a sample of 173 depressive inpatients. Cardiac anxiety syndrome and the diagnosis of cardiac neurosis respectively are characterized by panic attacks. Panic attacks are the core syndrome of a validated anxiety disorder (panic disorder). The purpose of this study was to investigate if the cardiac anxiety syndrome represents a separate disorder or if it is only a subtype of panic attacks. In a sample of 122 patients with panic attacks, all patients with a cardiac anxiety syndrome were selected (n = 31). La práctica de la confesión auricular representó uno de los instrumentos más relevantes de la acción de disciplinamiento social ejercida por la Iglesia católica a lo largo de la Edad Moderna. A través del análisis de algunos manuales de confesores de los siglos XVI y XVII, este artículo se propone un doble objetivo: por un lado poner de relieve la importancia de dichos manuales para la formación del clero, por otro ofrecer una visión general del papel que los confesores tuvieron a la hora de disciplinar las conductas sociales e individuales de los fieles.
