Duplicative publication requires duplicative editorializing. There are many forms of lesser redundancy such as unacknowledged secondary analyses of randomized clinical trials, fragmentation of studies with concurrent submission to various journals, and serial updating of observational studies. These practices result in publication bias. We have revised our instructions to authors to include disclosure of similar articles that are published, in press, or submitted to other journals to the editors upon submission.

L'articolo esamina un diagramma contenuto nel manoscritto London, British Library, Cotton Titus D.xxvii+xxvi, generalmente noto come 'Ælfwine’s Prayerbook'. Il diagramma, che si trova al fol. 21 v , è stato in genere interpretato come una rota incompleta, o delle maree o dei venti (dal momento che contiene solo 4 dei canonici 12 venti della tradizione scientifica medievale). Assessing Peer Review by Gauging the Fate of Rejected Manuscripts: the case of the Journal of Artificial Societies and Social Simulation

This paper investigates the fate of manuscripts that were rejected from JASSS-The Journal of Artificial Societies and Social Simulation, the flagship journal of social simulation. We tracked 456 manuscripts that were rejected from 1997 to 2011 and traced their subsequent publication as journal articles, conference papers or working papers. We compared the impact factor of the publishing journal and the citations of those manuscripts that were eventually published against the yearly impact factor of JASSS and the number of citations achieved by the JASSS mean and top cited articles. In this paper the idea that the legis actio per manus iniectionem could be applied for the case of the so called lex Aquilia de damno is disputed. There are no valid reasons to reject Göschen’s proposal to correct into ‘aliqua’ the word ‘aquilia’ which ends the line 15 in the fol. 96 uerso of the palimpsest of Gaius’ Institutes. On the contrary, a global evaluation of many aspects, both philological and juridical, leads to the conclusion that Göschen’s reading of Gai 4.21 has to be accepted.

Within the investigations on the attribution of some manuscripts to the famous philologist P. Baffi and now kept at the National Library of Naples (BNN), this brief contribution investigates in detail some of the passages contained in Ms.II.D.54 (f. 234r et f. 325r), in order to understand its meaning and to evaluate and validate its attributing hypotheses.
