Combining multi-typologies landslide susceptibility maps: a case study for the Visso area (central Italy)

The research proposes a simple but geomorphologically adequate method to produce a combined landslide susceptibility map. In fact, in a logic of real use, offering type-specific landslide susceptibility maps to land use planners and administration could be not a successful solution. The stem rust resistance gene Rpg5 encodes a protein with nucleotide-binding-site, leucine-rich, and protein kinase domains

We isolated the barley stem rust resistance genes Rpg5 and rpg4 by map-based cloning. These genes are colocalized on a 70-kb genomic region that was delimited by recombination. The Rpg5 gene consists of an unusual structure encoding three typical plant disease resistance protein domains: nucleotide-binding site, leucine-rich repeat, and serine threonine protein kinase. The predicted RPG5 protein has two putative transmembrane sites possibly involved in membrane binding. The gene is expressed at low but detectable levels. Political risks: the “red shift” in debt sustainability analysis

Political stability and economic policy uncertainty can be key determinants of sovereign debt dynamics, and we show how they can be incorporated in debt sustainability analysis. We distinguish between short-term ambiguity and long-term uncertainty about political risk factors, and using a combination of narrative scenarios and calibrated probabilistic scenarios we obtain a comprehensive heatmap of high-risk debt dynamics. We use Italy as an interesting case study and demonstrate a “red shift” in the assessment of vulnerabilities when accounting for political risks. Ignoring these risks can lead to excessive optimism and wrong decisions.

La stabilità del sistema politico istituzionale e l'incertezza riguardo le politiche economiche sono due fattori chiave che possono influenzare la dinamica del debito pubblico. Nell'articolo si propone un modello di analisi della sostenibilità del debito sovrano che tenga conto dei fattori di rischio concernenti l'assetto istituzionale di un paese e le sue politiche economiche. In particolare distinguendo fra ambiguità a breve termine e incertezza a lungo termine dei fattori di rischio politico e utilizzando una combinazione di scenari narrativi e scenari probabilistici si costruisce una "heatmap" che permette di attribuire ad ogni politica fiscale la probabilità che l'obiettivo di riduzione dello stock di debito o del deficit sia soddisfatto. Il modello è applicato al caso Italia. I risultati mostrano un "red shift" della vulnerabilità del debito pubblico italiano quando sono inclusi nell'analisi i fattori di rischio politico. DNA barcoding facilitates many evolutionary and ecological studies, including the examination of the dietary diversity of herbivores. In this study, we present a survey of ecological associations between herbivorous beetles and host plants from seriously threatened European steppic grasslands. We determined host plants for the majority (65%) of steppic leaf beetles (55 species) and weevils (59) known from central Europe using two barcodes (trnL and rbcL) and two sequencing strategies (Sanger for mono/oligophagous species and Illumina for polyphagous taxa). The archeological site of the Latomia del Paradiso (Syracuse) is endangered by severe instability phenomena due to the shape of walls and underground excava-tion related with the poor mechanical characteristics of the weathered and wet rock. Semi-Supervised Classification Method for Hyperspectral Remote Sensing Images

A new approach to the classification of hyperspectral images is proposed. The main problem with supervised methods is that the learning process heavily depends on the quality of the training data set.
