rhoB encoding a UV-inducible Ras-related small GTP-binding protein is regulated by GTPases of the Rho family and independent of JNK, ERK, and p38 MAP…

1998

The small GTPase RhoB is immediate-early inducible by DNA damaging treatments and thus part of the early response of eukaryotic cells to genotoxic stress. To investigate the regulation of this cellular response, we isolated the gene for rhoB from a mouse genomic library. Sequence analysis of the rhoB gene showed that its coding region does not contain introns. The promoter region of rhoB harbors regulatory elements such as TATA, CAAT, and Sp1 boxes but not consensus sequences for AP-1, Elk-1, or c-Jun/ATF-2. The rhoB promoter was activated by UV irradiation, but not by 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate treatment. rhoB promoter deletion constructs revealed a fragment of 0.17 kilobases in …

Algunos proces…

Factorization of strongly (p,sigma)-continuous multilinear operators

2013

We introduce the new ideal of strongly-continuous linear operators in order to study the adjoints of the -absolutely continuous linear operators. Starting from this ideal we build a new multi-ideal by using the composition method. We prove the corresponding Pietsch domination theorem and we present a representation of this multi-ideal by a tensor norm. A factorization theorem characterizing the corresponding multi-ideal - which is also new for the linear case - is given. When applied to the case of the Cohen strongly -summing operators, this result gives also a new factorization theorem.

Existence theorems for inclusions of the type

1999

For a family of operator inclusions with convex closed-valued right-hand sides in Banach spaces, the existence of solutions is obtained by chiefly using Ky Fan's fixed point principle. The main result of the paper improves Theorem 1 in [16] as well as Theorem 2.2 of [3]. Some meaningful concrete cases are also presented and discussed.

SAVU: A Statistical Approach for Uncertain Data in Dynamics of Axially Moving Materials

2012

In physics and engineering problems, model input is never exact. The effect of small uncertainties on the solution is thus an important question. In this study, a direct statistical-visual approach to approximate the solution set is investigated in the context of axially moving materials. The multidimensional probability distribution for the input uncertainties is assumed known. It is considered as a deterministic object, which is then mapped through the model. The resulting probability density of the model output is visualized. The proposed system consists of three non-trivial parts, which are briefly discussed: a multidimensional sampler, a density estimator, and a high dynamic range (HDR…

ERP denoising in multichannel EEG data using contrasts between signal and noise subspaces

2009

Abstract In this paper, a new method intended for ERP denoising in multichannel EEG data is discussed. The denoising is done by separating ERP/noise subspaces in multidimensional EEG data by a linear transformation and the following dimension reduction by ignoring noise components during inverse transformation. The separation matrix is found based on the assumption that ERP sources are deterministic for all repetitions of the same type of stimulus within the experiment, while the other noise sources do not obey the determinancy property. A detailed derivation of the technique is given together with the analysis of the results of its application to a real high-density EEG data set. The inter…

On Pietsch measures for summing operators and dominated polynomials

2012

We relate the injectivity of the canonical map from $C(B_{E'})$ to $L_p(\mu)$, where $\mu$ is a regular Borel probability measure on the closed unit ball $B_{E'}$ of the dual $E'$ of a Banach space $E$ endowed with the weak* topology, to the existence of injective $p$-summing linear operators/$p$-dominated homogeneous polynomials defined on $E$ having $\mu$ as a Pietsch measure. As an application we fill the gap in the proofs of some results of concerning Pietsch-type factorization of dominated polynomials.

Rescaling principle for isolated essential singularities of quasiregular mappings

2012

We establish a rescaling theorem for isolated essential singularities of quasiregular mappings. As a consequence we show that the class of closed manifolds receiving a quasiregular mapping from a punctured unit ball with an essential singularity at the origin is exactly the class of closed quasiregularly elliptic manifolds, that is, closed manifolds receiving a non-constant quasiregular mapping from a Euclidean space.
