Abstract In this paper we study the determination of optimal water storage capacity in a region, taking into account that the supply of the resource, the flow into the reserve, is uncertain, that a measure of the uncertainty, the variance, is likely to increase with climate change, that building capacity is costly, and that the development of water resources may entail alsoenvironmental costs. Turing instability and traveling fronts for a nonlinear reaction–diffusion system with cross-diffusion

In this work we investigate the phenomena of pattern formation and wave propagation for a reaction–diffusion system with nonlinear diffusion. We show how cross-diffusion destabilizes uniform equilibrium and is responsible for the initiation of spatial patterns. Near marginal stability, through a weakly nonlinear analysis, we are able to predict the shape and the amplitude of the pattern. For the amplitude, in the supercritical and in the subcritical case, we derive the cubic and the quintic Stuart–Landau equation respectively. Cross-Diffusion Driven Instability in a Predator-Prey System with Cross-Diffusion

In this work we investigate the process of pattern formation induced by nonlinear diffusion in a reaction-diffusion system with Lotka-Volterra predator-prey kinetics. We show that the cross-diffusion term is responsible of the destabilizing mechanism that leads to the emergence of spatial patterns. Near marginal stability we perform a weakly nonlinear analysis to predict the amplitude and the form of the pattern, deriving the Stuart-Landau amplitude equations. Moreover, in a large portion of the subcritical zone, numerical simulations show the emergence of oscillating patterns, which cannot be predicted by the weakly nonlinear analysis. Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is an autoimmune disease responsible for a peripheral immune destruction of platelets associated with an inappropriate bone marrow production. In this work, we first review the mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of ITP. We also focus on the T cell immune response, highlighting the key role of regulatory T cells (Treg) in peripheral tolerance. The implication of the spleen in the immune response and the effects of rituximab, a B cell depleting therapy, are discussed. Then, our results obtained from 40 ITP patients are reported. Alfieri, qui rompt à la fois avec la figure de l’écrivain courtisan et avec les modèles dramatiques liés à la monarchie absolue, pour promouvoir un théâtre de la marge qui explore et redéfinit la notion de sublime. L’exemple de Mirra met ainsi en œuvre, à travers le traitement de la passion incestueuse, plusieurs types de sublime dont la superposition aboutit à tisser pour le spectateur un nouveau voile de Timanthe.

Spanish director Eloy de la Iglesia (1944-2006) is the author of twenty-two feature films made between 1966 and 2003. His vast filmography covers a crucial period in the history of contemporary Spain, with which it is in constant dialogue. Acclaimed by audiences, Eloy de la Iglesia incurred the wrath of the Film Censorship Board (which kept a close watch on his work) and the hostility of many critics, including the most progressive ones, who inevitably rebuked him for opportunism, demagogy, excessive penchant for provocation and blatant bad taste.
