Abstract [(Cl 3 CCOO)Ph 2 Ge] 2 reacts with wet acetone to give Ph 8 Ge 4 O 2 , and with dry H 2 S to give Ph 8 Ge 4 S 2 . With Na 2 S or NaHSe, Ph 4 Ge 2 Cl 2 yields Ph 8 Ge 4 S 2 and Ph 8 Ge 4 Se 2 , respectively. Only Ph 6 Ge 3 S 2 or Ph 6 Ge 3 Se 2 , but no Ph 6 Ge 3 O 2 , can be obtained from a mixture of Ph 4 Ge 2 Cl 2 , Ph 2 GeCl 2 and Na 2 S or NaHSe. The mass spectra show a high stability of the cations Ph 6 Ge 3 S 2 + and Ph 6 Ge 3 Se 2 + . The 13 C NMR phenyl signals for C( ipso ) shift to high field in the series O, S, Se and 6-membered, 5-membered rings. The crystal structures of Ph 8 Ge 4 O 2 ( R = 0.031) and Ph 6 Ge 3 S 2 ( R = 0.036) have been determined. The 6-membered ring…

Abstract Methyl and phenyl oxadithia and trithiabismocanes have been synthesized from methyl or phenyl diethoxybismutane and the respective dithiol. The light-sensitive compounds have been investigated by mass, vibrational and 13C NMR spectra: ν(BiMe) 470–460, ν(BiS2) 300–240 cm−1; δ(13Me) −12 ppm. The crystal structure of 5-phenyl-1,4,6,5-oxadithiabismocane has been determined (R = 0.056). The eight-membered ring has the chair-chair conformation. Zusammenfassung Auf dem Wege der nucleophilen Substitution der Chloratome in 2,4-Dichlor- 6-(dihexylamino)-1,3,5-triazin durch Anilin werden das 2,4-Dianilino-6-(dihexylamino)-1,3,5-triazin und durch fluorierte Amine die (Dihexylamino)- 1,3,5-triazine mit den folgenden Resten zuganglich: (2-Fluoranilino)-, (3-Fluoranilino)-, (4-Fluoranilino)-, (2,4-Difluoranilino)-, (2,5-Difluoranilino)- und (2,6-Difluoranilino)-. Zur Charakterisierung der neuen Verbindungen sind die IR-, 1 H-NMR- und Massenspektroskopie herangezogen worden. 2,4-Bis-(2,4-difluoranilino)-6-(dihexylamino)-1,3,5-triazin vermag insbesondere herbizide und antidiabetische Wirkungen auszuuben.

The electron impact mass spectra of methyl esters of chloro-, bromo-, dichloro-, bromochloro- and dibromo-2-butenoic acids (13 esters at all) have been investigated. Generally, the peaks due to the following fragments are abundant: M+·, [M OCH3]+, [M CH3OH]+·, [M X]+, [M OCH3 CO]+ or [M COOCH3]+, [M X CH3OH]+ or [M OCH3 HX]+, [M OCH3 CO HX]+, [M OCH3 X X]+ and [M OCH3 CO X X]+. Characteristic for the 2- and 4-halo isomers are the primary losses of a methyl radical and methanol, and for the 3-halo isomers the loss of X· from M+·. Disparities between the spectra of the E and Z isomers are shown, the effect of position of halogen substitution being much more pronounced, as reported previously …
Photodimers of cinnamic acid and related compounds. A stereochemical study by electron-impact and field desorption mass spectrometry

The low energy (13 eV) electron-impact and field desorption mass spectra of some photodimers of cinnamic acid and related compounds containing the cyclobutane ring are reported and the fragmentation patterns analysed in order to obtain stereochemical information on the substituent position on the cyclobutane ring. Both symmetrical and asymmetrical splittings of the cyclobutane ring were detected, allowing characterisation of the head-to-head and head-to-tail structures of the title compounds. A ring opening rearrangement of the McLafferty type was also found.

As a suitable way for routine screening of pesticides and control of other organic contaminants in water, the combination of liquid chromatography triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometry (LC-QqQ-MS/MS) and liquid chromatography-hybrid quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (LC-QTOF-MS) has been applied to the analysis of 63 surface and waste water samples after conventional solid-phase extraction (SPE). The extracts were screened for 43 pesticides or degradation products by LC-QqQ-MS/MS achieving limits of detection (LOD) ranged from 0.04 to 2 ng L(-1). The structure and thermal degradation behaviour of polyesters from terephthalic and/or succinic acid and hydroquinone were investigated by pyrolysis mass spectrometry. Poly(oxysuccinyloxy-1,4-phenylene) (2) undergoes cleavage of the ester bond (Eq. (vii)) as a very selective pyrolysis mechanism at 310°C, whereas the thermally more stable poly(oxyterephthaloyloxy-1,4-phenylene) (1) starts to degrade above 400°C and yields pyrolysis products with phenyl (Eq. Abstract. Sulfuric acid and dimethylamine vapours in the atmosphere can form molecular clusters, which participate in new particle formation events. In this work, we have produced, measured and identified clusters of sulfuric acid and dimethylamine using an electrospray ionizer coupled with a planar differential mobility analyser, connected to an atmospheric pressure interface time-of-flight mass spectrometer (ESI–DMA–APi-TOF MS). This set-up is suitable for evaluating the extent of fragmentation of the charged clusters inside the instrument. Studies on some antimony(III) complexes with tridentate schiff base ligands

Abstract The antimony(III) complexes FSb(Sab), ClSb(Sab) and ClSb(Sat) containing dianonic, potentially tridentate Schiff-base ligands with ONO(Sab 2− ) and ONS(Sat 2− ) donor atoms have been prepared and characterized. The mass spectra of these derivatives are reported. The occurrence of chelation by the tridentate ligand is inferred from the infrared data. The antimony-121 Mossbauer parameters at 4.2 K are reported. The magnitudes and the positive sign of eQV zz suggest a consistent p-character of the antimony lone-pair orbital. Observed differencies in the isomer shift and eQV zz values are discussed on the basis of the likely distribution of electron density around antimony.
