Mass spectrometry coupled to chromatography systems and cultural heritage: a case study on the content of an ancient jar

2009

In this chapter an introduction to mass spectrometry will be given, with particular reference to mass spectrometry coupled to chromatography systems. Further some mass spectrometry applications in the field of cultural heritage will be briefly reported and discussed. Finally a experimental investigation on the content of an ancient jar will be reported. Together with experimental details a description of the techniques adopted, results obtained and forthcoming experiments will be also given.

Fragmentations and reactions of protonated O,O-dimethyl ethylphosphonate and some isotopomers produced by electrospray ionisation in an ion trap mass…

2008

Abstract The fragmentation behaviour of protonated O , O -dimethyl ethylphosphonate and its isotopomers deuterated in the α- and β-positions of the ethyl group and their fragment ions, particulary EtP(O)OMe + ( IV ), have been investigated both experimentally in an ion trap mass spectrometer and theoretically by electronic structure calculations at the B3LYP level. Of particular interest is the finding that the phosphonium ion IV eliminates ethene with hydrogen/deuterium loss from both the α-and β-positions. The initial step for both routes involves ethyl migration from P to O to form the ion MeOP + OEt which then loses ethene by two mechanisms, both of which lead to the same products. That…

Security in Modern Smart Cities: An Information Technology Perspective

2019

In a big and modern city, the security system is not a single-layered single module system. Instead, it consists of many layers with autonomous subsystems which are capable of interfacing reciprocally in an efficient and coordinated way horizontally and vertically. The design of such indigenous subsystems and ensuring tight interaction between them while taking into account high usability and resource utilization is not a simple task. In this regard, this article provides a comprehensive overview of the security systems in smart cities. We begin by introducing trends and key stakeholders in smart cities. Next, we provide examples of mass surveillance systems in developed countries like the …

Dy159 Electron-Capture: A New Candidate for Neutrino Mass Determination

2021

International audience; The ground state to ground state electron-capture Q value of Dy159 (3/2-) has been measured directly using the double Penning trap mass spectrometer JYFLTRAP. A value of 364.73(19) keV was obtained from a measurement of the cyclotron frequency ratio of the decay parent Dy159 and the decay daughter Tb159 ions using the novel phase-imaging ion-cyclotron resonance technique. The Q values for allowed Gamow-Teller transition to 5/2- and the third-forbidden unique transition to 11/2+ state with excitation energies of 363.5449(14) keV and 362.050(40) keV in Tb159 were determined to be 1.18(19) keV and 2.68(19) keV, respectively. The high-precision Q value of transition 3/2-…

Comparison of the effects of massage with mineral oil or ozonated oil bioperoxoil© on blood lactate, stress percevied and heart rate in cyclists

2010

Muscular fatigue is a factor that influence heavily performance of athletes. There is a lack of data about effect of massage with substances “ad hoc”. The aim of our research was to investigate the effect of application of ozonated oil on some parameters linked to fatigue in cyclists. 30 cyclists male was divided in two groups of 15 (PLO= placebo oil; OZO=ozonated Oil). Subjects was submitted in two different session to work protocol that consist in a rectangular test on cyclergometer followed by 30’ of rest. After the rest athletes performed an incremental test. HR (heart rate), Wmax (Watt maximal), RPE (rate of Perceived Exertion) and Lab(Blood Lactate) was misured at the end and after 5’…
