Maximum Torque Per Ampere control algorithm for low saliency ratio interior permanent magnet synchronous motors

2017

This paper presents an investigation on the comparison between the Maximum Torque Per Ampere (MTPA) and the Field Orientation Control (FOC) algorithms for interior permanent magnet synchronous machines (IPMSMs). In particular, this study was carried out on a small-power IPMSM with low salience ratio. Both control algorithms have been implemented in the Matlab/Simulink environment, obtaining promising results.

The Acoustic Wave Behavior Within the PEA Cell for Space Charge Measurement

2018

In order to evaluate the acoustic wave behavior within the Pulsed Electro Acoustic (PEA) cell, a simulation model has been developed in this work. The model, implemented in Matlab environment, is based on the analogy between acoustic and electrical quantities. Therefore, it was possible to model the PEA cell as cascade connected lossy transmission lines. The model has been validated theoretically by making a comparison with a simulation result found in literature. The experimental validation has also been made by using the PEA cell of the LEPRE high voltage lab. In addition, four graphs have been realized. Two of them can be used to establish in easy and fast way to obtain the minimum groun…

THE GYROTRON STARTUP SCENARIO IN THE SINGLE MODE TIME DEPENDENT APPROACH

2019

The paper explains how to solve the Gyrotron equation system in the Single Mode Time Dependent Approach. In particular, we point out problems encountered when solving these well-known equations. The starting current estimation approach a using time model is suggested. The solution has been implemented in the Matlab code, which is attached to the article.

Nvidia CUDA parallel processing of large FDTD meshes in a desktop computer

2020

The Finite Difference in Time Domain numerical (FDTD) method is a well know and mature technique in computational electrodynamics. Usually FDTD is used in the analysis of electromagnetic structures, and antennas. However still there is a high computational burden, which is a limitation for use in combination with optimization algorithms. The parallelization of FDTD to calculate in GPU is possible using Matlab and CUDA tools. For instance, the simulation of a planar array, with a three dimensional FDTD mesh 790x276x588, for 6200 time steps, takes one day -elapsed time- using the CPU of an Intel Core i3 at 2.4GHz in a personal computer, 8Gb RAM. This time is reduced 120 times when the calcula…

Pipeline Monitoring Architecture Based on Observability and Controllability Analysis

2019

Recently many techniques with different applicability have been developed for damage detection in the pipeline. The pipeline system is designed as a distributed parameter system, where the state space of the distributed parameter system has infinite dimension. This paper is dedicated to the problem of observability as well as controllability analysis in the pipeline systems. Some theorems are presented in order to test the observability and controllability of the system. Computing the rank of the controllability and observability matrix is carried out using Matlab.

NESSie.jl – Efficient and intuitive finite element and boundary element methods for nonlocal protein electrostatics in the Julia language

2018

Abstract The development of scientific software can be generally characterized by an initial phase of rapid prototyping and the subsequent transition to computationally efficient production code. Unfortunately, most programming languages are not well-suited for both tasks at the same time, commonly resulting in a considerable extension of the development time. The cross-platform and open-source Julia language aims at closing the gap between prototype and production code by providing a usability comparable to Python or MATLAB alongside high-performance capabilities known from C and C++ in a single programming language. In this paper, we present efficient protein electrostatics computations a…

Improved Performance of a PV Solar Panel with Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System ANFIS based MPPT

2018

This article presents the development of an intelligent technique of Adaptive-Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) based on Maximum Power Point Tracking (ANFIS-MPPT) algorithm with PI controller in order to increase the performances of the photovoltaic panel system below change atmospheric circumstances. In this work, the mathematical principles of the ANFIS method were presented and developed using the software Matlab/Simulink. Moreover, the effectiveness of this ANFIS-MPPT technique is demonstrated by a comparison of the obtained results with others obtained from a classical (Perturb & Observe) P & O-MPPT method. From the analysis of the obtained results, the ANFIS-MPPT command provide bet…

Intraocular Telescopic System Design: Optical and Visual Simulation in a Human Eye Model

2016

Purpose. To design an intraocular telescopic system (ITS) for magnifying retinal image and to simulate its optical and visual performance after implantation in a human eye model. Methods. Design and simulation were carried out with a ray-tracing and optical design software. Two different ITS were designed, and their visual performance was simulated using the Liou-Brennan eye model. The difference between the ITS was their lenses’ placement in the eye model and their powers. Ray tracing in both centered and decentered situations was carried out for both ITS while visual Strehl ratio (VSOTF) was computed using custom-made MATLAB code. Results. The results show that between 0.4 and 0.8 mm of d…

Educational Software Based on Matlab GUIs for Neural Networks Courses

2016

Neural Networks (NN) are one of the most used machine learning techniques in different areas of knowledge. This has led to the emergence of a large number of courses of Neural Networks around the world and in areas where the users of this technique do not have a lot of programming skills. Current software that implements these elements, such as Matlab®, has a number of important limitations in teaching field. In some cases, the implementation of a MLP requires a thorough knowledge of the software and of the instructions that train and validate these systems. In other cases, the architecture of the model is fixed and they do not allow an automatic sweep of the parameters that determine the a…
