On the 2-(25, 5, λ) design of zero-sum 5-sets in the Galois field GF(25)
2017
In this paper we consider the incidence structure ${\mathcal{D}}=({\mathcal{F}},{\mathcal{B}}_5^{0}),$ where ${\mathcal{F}}$ is the Galois field with $25$ elements, and ${\mathcal{B}}_5^{0}$ is the family of all $5$-subsets of $\mathcal F$ whose elements sum up to zero. It is known that ${\mathcal{D}}$ is a $2$-$(25,5,71)$ design. Here we provide two alternative, direct proofs of this result and, moreover, we prove that ${\mathcal{D}}$ is not a $3$-design. Furthermore, if ${\mathcal{B}}_5^{x}$ denotes the family of all $5$-subsets of $\mathcal F$ whose elements sum up to a given element $x \in \mathcal F,$ we also provide an alternative, direct proof that $({\mathcal{F}},{\mathcal{B}}_5^{x}…
On some parameters related to weak noncompactness in L1(μ,E)
2009
A weak measure of noncompactness γU is defined in a Banach space in terms of convex compactness. We obtain relationships between the measure γU(A) of a bounded set A in the Bochner space L1(μ,E) and two parameters Π(A) and Λ1(A).
Order boundedness and spectrum in locally convex quasi *-algebras
2021
After a quick sketch of the basic aspects of locally convex quasi *-algebras, we focus on order bounded elements and use them to analyze some spectral properties, trying to generalize the approach already studied in the Banach case.
Order bounded elements of topological *-algebras
2012
Several different notions of {\em bounded} element of a topological *-algebra $\A$ are considered. The case where boundedness is defined via the natural order of $\A$ is examined in more details and it is proved that under certain circumstances (in particular, when $\A$ possesses sufficiently many *-representations) {\em order boundedness} is equivalent to {\em spectral boundedness}.

Far From Equilibrium Constitutive Relations in a Nonlinear Model of Superfluid Turbulence
2009
In this paper the complete nonlinear far from equilibrium constitutive theory in a non standard model of superfluid turbulence is studied and the consequences of all the relations obtained using the Liu method of Lagrange multipliers are investigated.
CQ*-algebras and noncommutative measure
2012
In this paper we continue the investigations in [4], [5], [8], [13], [14], [15], and [19], of the structure of quasi *-algebras and extend the results in [1] and [2]. Here, noncommutative Tp-spaces are shown to constitute examples of a class of Banach C*-modules called CQ*-algebras. Moreover, it is shown that any (strongly) *-semisimple proper CQ*-algebra (X ,A), with A a separable C*-algebra, can be represented as a CQ*-algebra of type Tp.

Cloaking by anomalous localized resonance via spectral analysis of a Neumann-Poincaré operator
2014
The classical notion of Neumann-Poincar´e (NP) operator appears naturally when we attempt to solve Dirichlet or Neumann boundary value problems using layer potentials. In this talk, we will review some properties of NP-operators and show that they can be used to give a mathematical analysis of cloaking by anomalous localized resonance (CALR). More precisely, we shall discuss the following problem. If a body of dielectric material is coated by a plasmonic structure of negative dielectric constant with nonzero loss parameter, then CALR may occur as the loss parameter tends to zero. Anomalous localized resonance is the phenomenon of field blow-up in a localized region and it may (and may not) …
