Divergent Adsorption-Dependent Luminescence of Amino-Functionalized Lanthanide Metal-Organic Frameworks for Highly Sensitive NO2 Sensors
2020
International audience; A novel gas sensing mechanism exploiting lanthanide luminescence modulation upon NO2 adsorption is demonstrated here. Two isostructural lanthanide-based metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are used, including an amino group as the sensitive recognition center for NO2 molecules. The transfer of energy from the organic ligands to Ln is strongly dependent on the presence of NO2, resulting in an unprecedented photoluminescent sensing scheme. Thereby, NO2 exposition triggers either a reversible enhancement or a decrease in the luminescence intensity, depending on the lanthanide ion (Eu or Tb). Our experimental studies combined with density functional theory and complete activ…
Syntheses, characterisation, magnetism and photoluminescence of a homodinuclear Ln(III)-Schiff base family.
2009
A novel family of homodinuclear complexes of the general formula [Ln(2)L(2)(X)(2)] (where Ln = Nd(3+), Pr(3+), Sm(3+) and Tb(3+) for 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively and X, the coordinated NO(3)(-) or Cl(-) anion) has been synthesised from the corresponding lanthanide(III) salts with the pentadentate dianionic Schiff base ligand, H(2)L [N(1),N(3)-bis(salicylideneimino)diethylenetriamine], that exhibits a N(3)O(2) donor set. Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies evidenced the isostructurality of this family of centrosymmetric neutral dinuclear entities where the Ln(III) metal centres are coupled together by two phenolato oxygen atoms belonging to two units of ligand (H(2)L). Interestingly, the…
Selective Lanthanides Sequestration Based on a Self-Assembled Organosilica
2010
International audience; In this paper, we investigate the cation-exchange properties of a self-assembled hybrid material towards trivalent ions, lanthanides (La3+,Eu3+, Gd3+,Yb3+) and Fe3+. The bis-zwitter- ionic lamellar material was prepared by sol-gel process from only 3-amino- propyltriethoxysilane (APTES), succin- ic anhydride, and ethylenediamine. In ethanol heated under reflux, the ex- change ethylenediammonium versus Ln3+ proved to be complete by com- plexometry measurements and elemen- tal analyses, one Cl ion per one LnIII remaining as expected for charge bal- ance. In aqueous solution at 20 8C, the material was found to be selective to- wards lanthanide in spite of the similar- i…
Synthesis and cation-exchange properties of a bis-zwitterionic lamellar hybrid material
2008
The synthesis of a bis-zwitterionic lamellar hybrid material containing ammonium carboxylate groups is described. Cation-exchange properties of this material towards transition metal and lanthanide ions were studied as well as the regeneration and reuse of the material.
Elaboration et caractérisation d’une structure composite (sable et déchets plastiques recyclés) : Amélioration de la résistance par des charges en ar…
2018
This project aims at conceiving(designing) one paves with plastic waste got back in the discharges and with mixture of sand and gravel. This pavement that must be of use to the realization of pavements and public highways, must thus be capable of answering the technical conditions of its use. However, the fabrication method and the used material(equipment) must be rather simple to allow its fast handling by little qualified workers and a low(weak) production cost to be economically competitive. Pavements will thus be tested to identify their performance at the same time mechanical and physical then used on life-size to understand(include) their ageing because of their wear. Finally, an equi…
Effect of the metal dilution on the thermal and light-induced spin transition in [FexMn1−x(bpp)2](NCSe)2: When T(LIESST) reaches T1/2
2008
International audience; The thermal and light-induced spin transition in [FexMn1−x(bpp)2](NCSe)2 (bpp = 2,6-bis(pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine) has been investigated by magnetic susceptibility, photomagnetism and diffuse reflectivity measurements. These complexes display a thermal spin transition and exhibit the light-induced excited spin state trapping (LIESST) effect at low temperature. For each mixed-crystal system, the thermal spin transition temperature, T1/2, and the relaxation temperature of the photo-induced high-spin state, T(LIESST), have been systematically determined. It appears that T1/2 decreases with the metal dilution while T(LIESST) remains unchanged, suggesting that the two interco…
Coordination isomerism in spin crossover (SCO) materials
2021
International audience; A new series of three spin crossover (SCO) Fe(II) complexes based on a cyanocarbanion and on the neutral quinolin-8-amine (aqin) ligands, [Fe(aqin)2(tcnsme)2] (1), [Fe(aqin)2(tcnset)2] (2), and [Fe(aqin)2(tcnspr)2] (3), has been studied. The three complexes display similar molecular structures consisting of discrete [Fe(aqin)2(tcnsR)2] complexes [R = Me (1), Et (2), and Pr (3)]. Infrared spectroscopy and magnetic studies, performed on the three complexes, revealed the presence of similar SCO behaviors which strongly differ by their transition temperatures [234 K (1) < 266 K (2) < 360 K (3)]. The increase of the transition temperatures when passing from 1 to 3 may be …
Factors affecting copper(II) binding to multiarmed cyclam-grafted mesoporous silica in aqueous solution
2009
Single- as well as multi-anchored cyclam-functionalized silica samples have been prepared by grafting amorphous silica gel (K60) and mesostructured silica (SBA-15) with silylated cyclam precursors bearing one, two, or four triethoxysilyl groups, respectively ascribed to cyclam-mono, cyclam-di, and cyclam-tetra. Their reactivity toward copper(II) has been thoroughly investigated in aqueous solution and discussed with respect to the number of arms tethering the ligand to the silica surface and the structural ordering of the adsorbent in terms of capacity, long-term stability, and speed of access to the binding sites. Less-than-complete metal ion uptake was always observed, even in excess of c…
Thermoelectric effects on electrically conducting particles in liquid metal
2015
International audience; The present paper deals with the thermoelectric effect on a solid electrically conducting particle immersed in a liquid metal under a temperature gradient. Superimposition of a static magnetic field induces thermoelectric magnetic (TEM) forces both in the solid and in the liquid. Considering a simple spherical particle, the electric current density and the corresponding forces can be calculated analytically. Two cases are considered according to the orientation of the magnetic field with respect to the temperature gradient. The corresponding flow fields around the particle are calculated in both cases. Grain motion is analyzed in the light of in-situ experiments perf…
Coordination Complexes of a Neutral 1,2,4-Benzotriazinyl Radical Ligand: Synthesis, Molecular and Electronic Structures, andMagnetic Properties
2015
A series of d-block metal complexes of the recently reported coordinating neutral radical ligand 1-phenyl-3-(pyrid-2-yl)-1,4-dihydro-1,2,4-benzotriazin-4-yl (1) was synthesized. The investigated systems contain the benzotriazinyl radical 1 coordinated to a divalent metal cation, MnII, FeII, CoII, or NiII, with 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoroacetylacetonato (hfac) as the auxiliary ligand of choice. The synthesized complexes were fully characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, magnetic susceptibility measurements, and electronic structure calculations. The complexes [Mn(1)(hfac)2] and [Fe(1)(hfac)2] displayed antiferromagnetic coupling between the unpaired electrons of the ligand and the meta…
