Hydrodynamic description of the adiabatic piston.
2006
A closed macroscopic equation for the motion of the two-dimensional adiabatic piston is derived from standard hydrodynamics. It predicts a damped oscillatory motion of the piston towards a final rest position, which depends on the initial state. In the limit of large piston mass, the solution of this equation is in quantitative agreement with the results obtained from both hard disk molecular dynamics and hydrodynamics. The explicit forms of the basic characteristics of the piston's dynamics, such as the period of oscillations and the relaxation time, are derived. The limitations of the theory's validity, in terms of the main system parameters, are established.
Plasmon-based free-radical photopolymerization : effect of diffusion on nanolithography processes
2011
This Article interrogates the mechanisms responsible for nanoscale photopolymerization induced by confined and enhanced electromagnetic fields. Surface plasmon dipolar resonance of individual Ag nanoparticles was used as an optical near-field source to locally trigger the reaction of a photopolymerizable formulation. Laser excitation of the nanoparticles embedded in the formulation reproducibly generates polymer features with typical dimensions ranging from 2 nm to a few tens of nanometer. We have determined the physicochemical parameters and mechanisms controlling the spatial extent of the photopolymerization process. We found that the diffusion of the dye is the main process limiting the …
Identification of plant cells in black pigments of prehistoric Spanish Levantine rock art by means of a multi-analytical approach. A new method for s…
2017
We present a new multi-analytical approach to the characterization of black pigments in Spanish Levantine rock art. This new protocol seeks to identify the raw materials that were used, as well as reconstruct the different technical gestures and decision-making processes involved in the obtaining of these black pigments. For the first of these goals, the pictorial mat- ter of the black figurative motifs documented at the Les Dogues rock art shelter (Ares del Maestre, Castello ́ n, Spain) was characterized through the combination of physicochemical and archeobotanical analyses. During the first stage of our research protocol, in situ and non- destructive analyses were carried out by means of…
Carboranyl Substituted Siloxanes and Octasilsesquioxanes: Synthesis, Characterization, and Reactivity
2008
Carboranyl-containing disiloxane, cyclic-siloxane and cage-like silsesquioxane have been prepared in high yields. Two routes are compared for their preparation, a classical hydrolytic process based on hydrolysis and condensation of the freshly prepared carboranylalkylchlorosilane and ethoxysilane precursors and a nonhydrolytic route based on the specific reactivity of chorosilane toward DMSO. Based on the typical reactivity of the carboranyl group toward nucleophiles, dianionic disiloxanes and octaanionic silsesquioxanes were obtained without modification of the siloxane bond. Products are fully characterized by FTIR, NMR and MALDI-TOF methods.
Spin crossover properties of the [Fe(PM-BiA)2(NCS)2] complex - phases I and II
2003
International audience; In the present review, we reexamine the photomagnetic properties of the [Fe(PM-BiA)2(NCS)2], cis-bis(thiocyanato)-bis[(N-2'-pyridylmethylene)-4-(aminobiphenyl)]iron(II), compound which exhibits, depending on the synthetic method, an exceptionally abrupt spin transition (phase I) with a very narrow hysteresis (T1/2O = 168 K and T1/2N = 173 K) or a gradual spin conversion (phase II) occurring at 190 K. In both cases, light irradiation in the tail of the 1MLCT-LS absorption band, at 830 nm, results in the population of the high-spin state according to the light-induced excited spin-state trapping (LIESST) effect. The capacity of a compound to retain the light-induced HS…
Selective chemisorption of carbon monoxide by organic-inorganic hybrid materials incorporating cobalt(III) corroles as sensing components.
2007
Twenty-one hybrid materials incorporating cobalt(III) corrole complexes were synthesized by a sol–gel process or by grafting the metallocorrole onto a mesostructured silica of the SBA-15 type. All the materials show an almost infinite selectivity for carbon monoxide with respect to dinitrogen and dioxygen in the low-pressure domain where the chemisorption phenomenon is predominant. This peculiar property is of prime importance for an application as a CO sensor. The selectivity slightly decreases at high pressures where nonselective physisorption phenomena mainly occur. The percentage of active sites for CO chemisorption ranges from 22 to 64 %. This low percentage may be attributable to inte…
Molecular Engineering of Porphyrin‐Tapes/Phthalocyanine Heterojunctions for a Highly Sensitive Ammonia Sensor
2020
International audience; Modulating the interfacial charge alignments by molecular engineering in an organic heterojunction device is a smart strategy to improve its conductivity, which can be exploited in high performance gas sensors development. Herein, the fabrication of new organic heterojunction devices based on porphyrin tapes and phthalocyanines and their potentiality in ammonia sensing at different relative humidity (rh) are investigated. The devices are built using dry approach relying on oxidative chemical vapor deposition for simultaneous synthesis, doping and deposition of the porphyrin tape layer and physical vapor deposition of phthalocyanine layer. The association of the porph…
An approximation to the study of black pigments in Cova Remigia (Castell on, Spain). Technical and cultural assessments of the use of carbon-based bl…
2014
International audience; Spanish Levantine Rock Art is a unique pictorial expression within the prehistoric European context. Located in shelters in the inland regions of the Iberian Mediterranean basin, this art form, which must be necessarily studied in the frame of the process of neolithization of this territory, still lacks direct dating, and therefore its authorship is still open to debate. In this paper we present the first characterization of black pigments used in the Cova Remigia shelters in the Valltorta-Gassulla area (Castell on, Spain) by means of EDXRF spectrometry combined with SEM-EDS and Raman spectroscopy. Our aim is both to identify the raw material used for the preparation…
Development of bio-based epoxy systems for dry-impregnated vegetables fiber composites implementation
2022
Prepregs find industrial applications thanks to their high thermomechanical properties and easy implementation. However, they have two major drawback. First, they needto be carried and stored at low temperature. The second drawback is linked to the use of solvent in the future matrix, generating VOCs during thermocompression process. Those two points leads to environmental and economical overcharges resolved by a new dry impregnation process developed by Fibroline company. Those PhD works are reporting the synthesis and formulation of a biobased powder system with a low environmental impact, non-toxic for humans and compatible with dry impregnation for fully bio-based composites implementat…
Regioselective C–H amination of free base porphyrins via electrogenerated pyridinium-porphyrins and stabilization of easily oxidized amino-porphyrins…
2020
Four free base aminoporphyrins were synthesized in two steps via regioselective anodic nucleophilic substitution with pyridine followed by ring opening of the electrogenerated pyridinium with piperidine. The X-ray crystallographic structure of the unstable 2-aminotetraphenylporphyrin was solved. Protonation of this latter compound leads to the stable diiminium porphyrin salt.
