A macro-modelling approach for the analysis of infilled frame structures considering the effects of openings and vertical loads

2015

During the last decades, several macro-models have been proposed for the modelling of the infill panels' contribution to the lateral strength of frames. Despite all this effort, a robust model, which takes into account the influence of the vertical load, is not yet available. Furthermore, the influence of the very common case of infill walls with openings, such as windows and doors, has been neglected in all the code provisions that have been published so far. In this paper, an updated macro-model, based on the equivalent pin-jointed diagonal compressive strut, is presented. The proposed macro-model is able to represent the stiffening effect of the infill panel with openings by taking into …

On the robust design of unknown inputs Takagi-Sugeno observer

2012

This paper deals with the observer design for Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy models subject to unknown inputs and disturbance affecting both states and outputs of the system. Sufficient conditions to design an unknown input T-S observer are given in Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) terms. Relaxations are introduced by using intermediate variables. Numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the given result.

NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF MAGNETIC DROPLET DYNAMICS IN A ROTATING FIELD

2013

Dynamics and hysteresis of an elongated droplet under the action of a rotating magnetic field is considered for mathematical modelling. The shape of droplet is found by regularization of the ill-posed initial–boundary value problem for nonlinear partial differential equation (PDE). It is shown that two methods of the regularization – introduction of small viscous bending torques and construction of monotonous continuous functions are equivalent. Their connection with the regularization of the ill-posed reverse problems for the parabolic equation of heat conduction is remarked. Spatial discretization is carried out by the finite difference scheme (FDS). Time evolution of numerical solutions …

Mathematical modelling of an elongated magnetic droplet in a rotating magnetic field

2012

Dynamics of an elongated droplet under the action of a rotating magnetic field is considered by mathematical modelling. The actual shape of a droplet is obtained by solving the initial-boundary value problem of a nonlinear singularly perturbed partial differential equation (PDE). For the discretization in space the finite difference scheme (FDS) is applied. Time evolution of numerical solutions is obtained with MATLAB by solving a large system of ordinary differential equations (ODE).

Computer networks stability independence of the queuing delays

2015

Communication in intelligent computer networks is an indispensible attribute of the dataflow quality in Web traffic. We propose a model that investigates intelligent computer networks stability while specifying its limits. Packet queuing delay affects the performance of the network, and especially its stability. If the network is presented as a dynamic system in block diagram form, we compute a transfer function and determine the quasi-polynomial system. The characteristic polynomial distribution of zeros of complex variable quasi-plane determines the boundaries of the network stability. The approach relies on estimation of the network system's transfer functions and its quasi-polynomial. C…

A Discrete Model for a Network Having Broken Packages

2009

Broken packages are packages with not enough information regarding the destination address and they have a negative impact on a computer network. Broken packages stay in the router too much time and overload it. This is a real problem which appears in the computer network of Sofia University. We know only the time when a broken package arrives in the router. The problem is to find the computer which send broken packages. The aim of this article is to propose a model for defining the data transmission stability and correctness in a computer network. Our theoretical model is temporal dependent and captures the transmission properties of a computer network.

Internal spring distribution for quasi brittle fracture via Symmetric Boundary Element Method

2009

Abstract In this paper the symmetric boundary element formulation is applied to the fracture mechanics problems for quasi brittle materials . The basic aim of the present work is the development and implementation of two discrete cohesive zone models using Symmetric Galerkin multi-zone Boundary Elements Method . The non-linearity at the process zone of the crack will be simulated through a discrete distribution of nodal springs whose generalized (or weighted) stiffnesses are obtainable by the cohesive forces and relative displacements modelling. This goal is reached coherently with the constitutive relation σ − Δ u that describes the interaction between mechanical and kinematical quantities…

Models of SHS: An overview

2007

International audience; The theoretical models of SHS based on lamellar or cellular approximations of the heterogeneous reactive media are comparatively analyzed. It is shown that the ratio of the reaction time to the characteristic time of heat transfer between particles is a decisive parameter for the combustion wave propagation. When the time of reaction is shorter than the time of heat exchange, the combustion occurs in a discrete mode; in the opposite case, a quasi-homogeneous combustion mode occurs. Development of the discrete cellular model does not discard the quasi-homogeneous approach but markedly extends the scope of combustion theory. This extension enables explanation of many o…
