Using Cloud, Modularity, and Make-to-Upgrade Strategy for Integrating Customized-Oriented Supply Networks
2013
In the current global business individual demand play crucial roles. Customized-oriented supply networks are being proliferated in manufacturing industries, yet integration of their members is still quite challenging. As a practical solution, in this paper a new collaborative approach out of modularity structure, cloud computing, and a novel production strategy, called Make-to-Upgrade (MTU), is suggested. The complementary aspects of these techniques are highlighted and briefly explained here. MTU is as a strategy for future products with new characteristics, e.g., upgradability.
VoxelMages: a general-purpose graphical interface for designing geometries and processing DICOM images for PENELOPE
2016
The design and construction of geometries for Monte Carlo calculations is an error-prone, time-consuming, and complex step in simulations describing particle interactions and transport in the field of medical physics. The software VoxelMages has been developed to help the user in this task. It allows to design complex geometries and to process DICOM image files for simulations with the general-purpose Monte Carlo code PENELOPE in an easy and straightforward way. VoxelMages also allows to import DICOM-RT structure contour information as delivered by a treatment planning system. Its main characteristics, usage and performance benchmarking are described in detail.
Explorations of familiarity produced by words with specific combinations of letters
2010
We explore familiarity-based recognition using a paradigm devised by Parkin et al. (2001). The task consists of the creation of two lists of words written with one of two different subsets of letters of the alphabet. We manipulated study time (50, 100, 200, 500 ms per word) of words with different letter probabilistic structure to those originally used by Parkin et al. Letter-based familiarity responding was robust and present even at rates producing otherwise chance performance. A second experi- ment and structural equation modelling led us to interpret the results from the point of view of a theory that takes into account the processing of similarities and differences (Hunt & MacDaniel, (…
Computer Simulation Paradigm Regarding the Structure and Mechanical Characteristics of Human Long Bones
2013
Given the complex form of the long bones, a quality method of geometrical modeling which provides a good result is that of the 3D modeling by reconstruction, using the principles of reverse engineering. One of the important problems that shall be taken into consideration while modeling is the one concerning the real structure of the bones. This aspect presents a lot of importance because from the point of view of the mechanical behavior, the bones are neither homogenate structures. In this paper a study of the long bones structures is undergone, and in relation to the modelated element (the human tibia) it is divided in areas (called constructive-anatomical entities) of different mechanical…
An analysis of ego network communities and temporal a affinity for online social networks
2017
The wide diffusion of Online Social Networks (OSNs) presents several advantages, like the definition of simple tools for information sharing and spreading. However, OSNs present also some drawbacks, one of the most important one is the problem of privacy disclosures. Distributed Online Social Networks (DOSNs), which decentralize the control of the social network, have been recently proposed to overcome these issues. The decentralization of the control has issued several challenges, one of the main ones is guaranteeing data availability without relying on a central server. To define users’ data allocation strategies, the knowledge of the structure of the ego network and of the user’ temporal…
A Polish Adaptation of the Multidimensional Existential Meaning Scale: Internal Structure, Reliability, and Validity
2020
The aim of this article was to present a Polish adaptation of the Multidimensional Existential Meaning Scale (MEMS) developed by George and Park (2017). The scale proposes a tripartite view of meaning in life, measuring it in three different dimensions: Comprehension, Purpose, and Mattering, which is a new interesting approach to the conceptualization of this factor from a broader, existential perspective. The scale testing procedure involved a research sample consisting of 401 participants. In addition to the MEMS scale, the Meaning in Life Questionnaire (MLQ) and the Purpose in Life Test (PIL) were used. The results obtained with the Polish version confirmed its reliability and validity, …
PRIVANET: An Efficient Pseudonym Changing and Management Framework for Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks
2020
Protecting the location privacy is one of the main challenges in vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs). Although, standardization bodies, such as IEEE and ETSI, have adopted a pseudonym-based scheme as a solution for this problem, an efficient pseudonym changing and management is still an open issue. In this paper, we propose PRIVANET, a complete and efficient pseudonym changing and management framework. The PRIVANET has a hierarchical structure and considers the vehicular geographic area as a grid. Each cell of this grid contains one or many logical zones, called vehicular location privacy zones (VLPZs). These zones can easily be deployed over the widespread roadside infrastructures (RIs), su…
A framework for PACS development in cardiology
2003
The authors develop a framework for the integration of cardiology into hospitalwide picture archiving and communication systems (PACSs) by the definition of user requirements in cardiology image information systems. These user requirements have to be based on the consensus of users and industry. A topdown layered scheme is proposed for the development of documents based on user requirements. The structure of committees within the European Society of Cardiology that are working in this field is discussed. >
A Proposal to Model Ancient Silk Weaving Techniques and Extracting Information from Digital Imagery - Ongoing Results of the SILKNOW Project
2019
Three dimensional (3D) virtual representations of the internal structure of textiles are of interest for a variety of purposes related to fashion, industry, education or other areas. The modeling of ancient weaving techniques is relevant to understand and preserve our heritage, both tangible and intangible. However, ancient techniques cannot be reproduced with standard approaches, which usually are aligned with the characteristics of modern, mechanical looms. The aim of this paper is to propose a mathematical modelling of ancient weaving techniques by means of matrices in order to be easily mapped to a virtual 3D representation. The work focuses on ancient silk textiles, ranging from the 15…
Czynności notarialne online – podstawy de lege lata i uwagi de lege ferenda
2020
The text attempts to conceptualize the possible reform of the procedure of making notarial deeds in Poland. It examines the feasibility of drafting and signing these deeds in the course of online communication between parties. The analysis builds on the significant constraints for the classic notarial procedure (based on paper documents and on the physical presence of a notary and parties) that were triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic. Its aim reaches, however, further beyond the present-day realities and seeks possible ways to generally modernize provisions on notarial deeds and to adjust them to the growing proliferation of online communication in the society. The text ascertains that the …
