O znaczeniu mowy egocentrycznej, dialogu i dyskusji w edukacji matematycznej uczniów w młodszym wieku szkolnym
2018
Verbal speech is conducive to the cognitive development of individuals and influences — in a positive way — the effectiveness of the process of learning. Language makes it possible to feel free while thinking and enables people to generate various ideas, to make hypotheses, or formulate different — even the most fanciful — theories which relate to phenomena examined by them. The considerations which the author makes on the role of speech in the process of learning became the incentive to carry out research among students of pedagogy, whose aim was to establish what views they present concerning the importance of egocentric speech, dialogue and discussion in the mathematical education of chi…
The orthodox liturgical year and its theological structure
2022
The concept of ‘liturgical year’ indicates a reference to the meaning of the measuring units of civil time, and especially to the cosmic entities that determine the general rhythm of time – the sun and the moon. Interestingly, the liturgical time depends both on the structure of civil time, and, on the two discrete systems of the solar and lunar cycles, which have always been underpinnings of time measuring. The special importance and influence that the cosmical rhythms exert on the entire human life are also felt in the structure and theology of the liturgical time, where it signals the attempt to merge and reconcile the cosmical solar and lunar cycles within the liturgical year. This lead…
Using assessment for learning mathematics with mobile tablet based solutions
2014
Published version of an article in the journal: International Journal of Emerging Technologies in Learning (iJET). Also available from the publisher: http://dx.doi.org/10.3991/ijet.v9i2.3219 This article discusses assessment for learning in mathematics subjects. Teachers of large classes face the challenge of regularly assessing students’ ongoing mathematical learning achievements. Taking the complexity of assessment and feedback for learning as a background, we have developed a new approach to the assessment for learning mathematics at university level. We devised mobile tablet technology supported assessment processes, and we carried out user studies in both Rwanda and Norway. Results of …
PROBLEM ITEMS OF FINANCIAL LITERACY ASSESMENT FOR STUDENTS IN LATVIA
2020
Considering the financial situation in Latvia it is very important not only to realize how effectively students could deal with situations relating to financial issues, but to understand what kind of PISA Financial items exactly bring difficulties. It is necessary to realize how to improve students’ financial literacy. The main of the research is to find out what kind of PISA 2018 financial items are difficult for students and which students’ answers are marked as incorrect. To reach the aim the methods of content analysis. The research data show that students are very good at dealing with tasks similar to their everyday situations and requiring mathematical skills. In their turn, tasks rel…
Inverse problems and invisibility cloaking for FEM models and resistor networks
2013
In this paper we consider inverse problems for resistor networks and for models obtained via the finite element method (FEM) for the conductivity equation. These correspond to discrete versions of the inverse conductivity problem of Calderón. We characterize FEM models corresponding to a given triangulation of the domain that are equivalent to certain resistor networks, and apply the results to study nonuniqueness of the discrete inverse problem. It turns out that the degree of nonuniqueness for the discrete problem is larger than the one for the partial differential equation. We also study invisibility cloaking for FEM models, and show how an arbitrary body can be surrounded with a layer …

Fixed point results for α-implicit contractions with application to integral equations
2016
Recently, Aydi et al. [On fixed point results for α-implicit contractions in quasi-metric spaces and consequences, Nonlinear Anal. Model. Control, 21(1):40–56, 2016] proved some fixed point results involving α-implicit contractive conditions in quasi-b-metric spaces. In this paper we extend and improve these results and derive some new fixed point theorems for implicit contractions in ordered quasi-b-metric spaces. Moreover, some examples and an application to integral equations are given here to illustrate the usability of the obtained results.
Flat bands and strongly correlated Fermi systems
2019
Many strongly correlated Fermi systems including heavy-fermion (HF) metals and high-Tc superconductors belong to that class of quantum many-body systems for which Landau Fermiliquid (LFL) theory fails. Instead, these systems exhibit non-Fermi-liquid properties that arise from violation of time-reversal (T) and particle-hole (C) invariance. Measurements of tunneling conductance provide a powerful experimental tool for detecting violations of these basic symmetries inherent to LFLs, which guarantee that the measured differential conductivity dI/dV, where I is the current and V the bias voltage, is a symmetric function of V. Thus, it has been predicted that the conductivity becomes asymmetric …
