New degeneration of Fay's identity and its application to integrable systems

2011

In this paper, we find a new degenerated version of Fay's trisecant identity; this degeneration corresponds to the limit when the four points entering the trisecant identity coincide pairwise. This degenerated version of Fay's identity is used to construct algebro-geometric solutions to the multi-component nonlinear Schrodinger equation. This identity also leads to an independent derivation of algebro-geometric solutions to the Davey–Stewartson equations previously obtained in [17] in the framework of the Krichever scheme. We also give the condition of smoothness of the obtained solutions.

Large-x Analysis of an Operator-Valued Riemann–Hilbert Problem

2015

International audience; The purpose of this paper is to push forward the theory of operator-valued Riemann-Hilbert problems and demonstrate their effectiveness in respect to the implementation of a non-linear steepest descent method a la Deift-Zhou. In this paper, we demonstrate that the operator-valued Riemann-Hilbert problem arising in the characterization of so-called c-shifted integrable integral operators allows one to extract the large-x asymptotics of the Fredholm determinant associated with such operators.

Bipullbacks of fractions and the snail lemma

2017

Abstract We establish conditions giving the existence of bipullbacks in bicategories of fractions. We apply our results to construct a π 0 - π 1 exact sequence associated with a fractor between groupoids internal to a pointed exact category.

Tangent lines and Lipschitz differentiability spaces

2015

We study the existence of tangent lines, i.e. subsets of the tangent space isometric to the real line, in tangent spaces of metric spaces. We first revisit the almost everywhere metric differentiability of Lipschitz continuous curves. We then show that any blow-up done at a point of metric differentiability and of density one for the domain of the curve gives a tangent line. Metric differentiability enjoys a Borel measurability property and this will permit us to use it in the framework of Lipschitz differentiability spaces. We show that any tangent space of a Lipschitz differentiability space contains at least $n$ distinct tangent lines, obtained as the blow-up of $n$ Lipschitz curves, whe…

Logarithmic bundles of deformed Weyl arrangements of type $A_2$

2016

We consider deformations of the Weyl arrangement of type $A_2$, which include the extended Shi and Catalan arrangements. These last ones are well-known to be free. We study their sheaves of logarithmic vector fields in all other cases, and show that they are Steiner bundles. Also, we determine explicitly their unstable lines. As a corollary, some counter-examples to the shift isomorphism problem are given.

The structure of Fedosov supermanifolds

2009

Abstract Given a supermanifold ( M , A ) which carries a supersymplectic form ω , we study the Fedosov structures that can be defined on it, through a set of tensor fields associated to any symplectic connection ∇ . We give explicit recursive expressions for the resulting curvature and study the particular case of a base manifold M with constant holomorphic sectional curvature.

Dirichlet approximation and universal Dirichlet series

2016

We characterize the uniform limits of Dirichlet polynomials on a right half plane. In the Dirichlet setting, we find approximation results, with respect to the Euclidean distance and {to} the chordal one as well, analogous to classical results of Runge, Mergelyan and Vitushkin. We also strengthen the notion of universal Dirichlet series.

The De Giorgi measure and an obstacle problem related to minimal surfaces in metric spaces

2010

Abstract We study the existence of a set with minimal perimeter that separates two disjoint sets in a metric measure space equipped with a doubling measure and supporting a Poincare inequality. A measure constructed by De Giorgi is used to state a relaxed problem, whose solution coincides with the solution to the original problem for measure theoretically thick sets. Moreover, we study properties of the De Giorgi measure on metric measure spaces and show that it is comparable to the Hausdorff measure of codimension one. We also explore the relationship between the De Giorgi measure and the variational capacity of order one. The theory of functions of bounded variation on metric spaces is us…

Flat lightlike hypersurfaces in Lorentz–Minkowski 4-space

2009

Abstract The lightlike hypersurfaces in Lorentz–Minkowski space are of special interest in Relativity Theory. In particular, the singularities of these hypersurfaces provide good models for the study of different horizon types. We introduce the notion of flatness for these hypersurfaces and study their singularities. The classification result asserts that a generic classification of flat lightlike hypersurfaces is quite different from that of generic lightlike hypersurfaces.

Stabilization of heterodimensional cycles

2011

We consider diffeomorphisms $f$ with heteroclinic cycles associated to saddles $P$ and $Q$ of different indices. We say that a cycle of this type can be stabilized if there are diffeomorphisms close to $f$ with a robust cycle associated to hyperbolic sets containing the continuations of $P$ and $Q$. We focus on the case where the indices of these two saddles differ by one. We prove that, excluding one particular case (so-called twisted cycles that additionally satisfy some geometrical restrictions), all such cycles can be stabilized.
