Area minimizing projective planes on the projective space of dimension 3 with the Berger metric
2016
Abstract We show that, among the projective planes embedded into the real projective space R P 3 endowed with the Berger metric, those of least area are exactly the ones obtained by projection of the equatorial spheres of S 3 . This result generalizes a classical result for the projective spaces with the standard metric.
A counterexample to Feit's Problem VIII on decomposition numbers
2016
We find a counterexample to Feit's Problem VIII on the bound of decomposition numbers. This also answers a question raised by T. Holm and W. Willems.
Character restrictions and multiplicities in symmetric groups
2017
Abstract We give natural correspondences of odd-degree characters of the symmetric groups and some of their subgroups, which can be described easily by restriction of characters, degrees and multiplicities.
A STUDY OF THE πN SCATTERING DATA WITH JP = 3/2- AND A PROOF OF THE EXISTENCE OF THE N*(1700)
2014
Using an interaction extracted from the local hidden gauge Lagrangians and the coupled channels ρN (s-wave), πN (d-wave), πΔ (s-wave) and πΔ (d-wave), we look in the region of [Formula: see text] and we find two resonances dynamically generated which are naturally associated to the N*(1520)(3/2-) and N*(1700)(3/2-). The N*(1700)(3/2-) appears neatly as a pole in the complex plane. The free parameters of the theory are chosen to fit the πN (d-wave) data. The unitary coupled channel approach followed here, in connection with the experimental data, leads automatically to a pole in the 1700 MeV region and makes this second 3/2- resonance unavoidable.
Classification générique de synthèses temps minimales avec cible de codimension un et applications
1997
In this article we consider the problem of constructing the optimal closed loop control in the time minimal control problem, with terminal constraints belonging to a manifold of codimension one, for systems of the form v = X + uY, v ϵ R2, R3, |u| ≤ 1 under generic assumptions. The analysis is localized near the terminal manifold and is motivated by the problem of controlling a class of chemical systems.
Brauer’s Height Zero Conjecture for principal blocks
2021
Abstract We prove the other half of Brauer’s Height Zero Conjecture in the case of principal blocks.
Mappings of finite distortion: discreteness and openness for quasi-light mappings
2005
Abstract Let f ∈ W 1 , n ( Ω , R n ) be a continuous mapping so that the components of the preimage of each y ∈ R n are compact. We show that f is open and discrete if | D f ( x ) | n ⩽ K ( x ) J f ( x ) a.e. where K ( x ) ⩾ 1 and K n − 1 / Φ ( log ( e + K ) ) ∈ L 1 ( Ω ) for a function Φ that satisfies ∫ 1 ∞ 1 / Φ ( t ) d t = ∞ and some technical conditions. This divergence condition on Φ is shown to be sharp.
On complements of 𝔉-residuals of finite groups
2016
ABSTRACTA formation 𝔉 of finite groups has the generalized Wielandt property for residuals, or 𝔉 is a GWP-formation, if the 𝔉-residual of a group generated by two 𝔉-subnormal subgroups is the subgroup generated by their 𝔉-residuals. The main aim of the paper is to determine some sufficient conditions for a finite group to split over its 𝔉-residual.
Characters and Sylow 2-subgroups of maximal class revisited
2018
Abstract We give two ways to distinguish from the character table of a finite group G if a Sylow 2-subgroup of G has maximal class. We also characterize finite groups with Sylow 3-subgroups of order 3 in terms of their principal 3-block.
