Effective state estimation of stochastic systems

2003

In the present paper, for constructing the minimum risk estimators of state of stochastic systems, a new technique of invariant embedding of sample statistics in a loss function is proposed. This technique represents a simple and computationally attractive statistical method based on the constructive use of the invariance principle in mathematical statistics. Unlike the Bayesian approach, an invariant embedding technique is independent of the choice of priors. It allows one to eliminate unknown parameters from the problem and to find the best invariant estimator, which has smaller risk than any of the well‐known estimators. There exists a class of control systems where observations are not …

Invariant Embedding Technique and Its Applications for Improvement or Optimization of Statistical Decisions

2010

In the present paper, for improvement or optimization of statistical decisions under parametric uncertainty, a new technique of invariant embedding of sample statistics in a performance index is proposed. This technique represents a simple and computationally attractive statistical method based on the constructive use of the invariance principle in mathematical statistics. Unlike the Bayesian approach, an invariant embedding technique is independent of the choice of priors. It allows one to eliminate unknown parameters from the problem and to find the best invariant decision rule, which has smaller risk than any of the well-known decision rules. To illustrate the proposed technique, applica…

Optimization of the objective function –surface quality by end-milling dimensional machining of some aluminum alloys

2019

Abstract In the aerospace industry, the milling of aluminum alloy parts is a machining process with the primary purpose of removing high volumes of material. Aluminum alloys are materials that have relatively good machinability, which helps the process because many of the components of the aircraft are of high dimensions. These parts have many pockets more or less deep, and the removal by cutting off about 90% of the initial volume of the workpiece is a matter of consideration. The manufacturing process is protracted and involves long semi-finishing and finishing operations, so it is recommended that any researcher who begins and finishes an experimental study should do it base on a specifi…

Introducing migratory flows in life table construction

2012

The purpose of life tables is to describe the mortality behav iour of particular groups. The construction of general life tables is based on death statis tics and census figures of resident populations under the hypothesis of closed demographic sys tem. Among other assumptions, this hypothesis implicitly assumes that entries (immigrants) a nd exits (emigrants) of the population are usually not significant (being almost of the same magnitu de for each age compensating each other). This paper theoretically extends the classical sol ution to open demographic systems and studies the impact of this hypothesis in constructing a life table. In particular, using the data of residential variations m…

Equivalence of the Pecka–Ponec Correlation Probability and the Statistical F Significance for MLR Models

2004

In an article of this journal Pecka and Ponec [J. Math. Chem. 27 (2000) 13] have proposed, by means of a probability calculation, a method to evaluate the statistical importance of correlations obtained from multilinear regression equations involving an arbitrary number of experimental points and parameters. Here, it is demonstrated how this probability exactly coincides with a more general concept: the confidence probability of an F distribution having the appropriate degrees of freedom.

Research Letter: is neuroticism a risk factor for postpartum depression?

2012

Although the relationship between personality and depressive illness is complex (Shea, 2005), there is empirical evidence that some personality features such as neuroticism, harm avoidance, introversion, dependency, self-criticism or perfectionism are related to depressive illness risk (Gunderson et al. 1999). Moreover, personality traits, especially neuroticism, may explain the increased prevalence of depression among females (Goodwin & Gotlib, 2004). Few studies have explored neuroticism, extraversion and psychoticism as risk factors for depression after an event as stressful as childbirth. Pitt (1968) was the first author to report high scores on neuroticism and low scores on extraversio…

Empirical Likelihood Method for a Location Parameter Using Some Robust Estimators

2022

Fractional integration, differentiation, and weighted Bergman spaces

1999

We study the action of fractional differentiation and integration on weighted Bergman spaces and also the Taylor coeffficients of functions in certain subclasses of these spaces. We then derive several criteria for the multipliers between such spaces, complementing and extending various recent results. Univalent Bergman functions are also considered.

Orlicz-Hardy inequalities

2004

We relate Orlicz-Hardy inequalities on a bounded Euclidean domain to certain fatness conditions on the complement. In the case of certain log-scale distortions of Ln, this relationship is necessary and sufficient, thus extending results of Ancona, Lewis, and Wannebo. peerReviewed

Tripled Fixed Point Results for T-Contractions on Abstract Metric Spaces

2014

In this paper we introduce the notion of T-contraction for tripled fi xed points in abstract metric spaces and obtain some tripled fi xed point theorems which extend and generalize well-known comparable results in the literature. To support our results, we present an example and an application to integral equations.
