ABSTRACT Purpose: We developed and validated nomograms that accurately predict disease recurrence and progression in patients with Ta, T1, or CIS transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) of the bladder using a large international cohort. Methods: Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models targeted histologically confirmed disease recurrence, and focused on 2,542 patients with bladder TCC from 10 participating centers. Franceschetti Hereditary Recurrent Corneal Erosion

To describe new affected individuals of Franceschetti's original pedigree of hereditary recurrent erosion and to classify a unique entity called Franceschetti corneal dystrophy.Observational case series.Slit-lamp examination of 10 affected individuals was conducted. Biomicroscopic examinations were supplemented by peripheral corneal biopsy in 1 affected patient with corneal haze. Tissue was processed for light and electron microscopy and immunohistochemistry was performed. Lattice Corneal Dystrophy Type 1

PURPOSE To evaluate the question whether lattice corneal dystrophy type 1 (LCD1) is of epithelial or stromal origin. METHODS The landmark of advanced LCD1 shows central superficial haze and paracentral stromal lattice lines. In 16 eyes of 8 affected individuals of 2 families, a penetrating keratoplasty was performed. The follow-up was 8 to 16 years after penetrating keratoplasty. Slit-lamp documentation of the patients was evaluated in direct and indirect illumination with dilated pupil to assess the horizontal and vertical pattern of new deposits on the corneal graft. Variability in the performance of nuclear matrix protein 22 for the detection of bladder cancer.

PURPOSE: We assessed variability in the diagnostic performance of NMP22 for detecting recurrence and progression in patients with Ta, T1, and/or CIS transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder in a large international cohort. MATERIALS AND METHODS: NMP22 voided urine levels were measured in 2,871 patients who underwent office cystoscopy for monitoring previous stage Ta, T1 and/or CIS transitional cell carcinoma at 12 participating institutions. RESULTS: Patient characteristics varied considerably among institutions. Overall 1,045 patients (36.4%) had recurrent transitional cell carcinoma (range across institutions 13.6% to 54.3%). Summary This study aims at the in situ identification of factors mediating glioma cell invasion requiring adhesion, extracellular matrix degradation, and migration. Aims:  The aim of the study was to characterize the effect of various nitrogen sources on Oenococcus oeni growth, carbon source utilization, extracellular protease activity and extracellular proteins. Treatment with enamel matrix proteins (EMD) or guided tissue regeneration (GTR) has been shown to enhance periodontal regeneration. Distribution of Cartilage Proteoglycan (Aggrecan) Core Protein and Link Protein Gene Expression during Human Skeletal Development

The distribution of cartilage proteoglycan core protein (aggrecan) and cartilage proteoglycan link protein was investigated by in situ hybridization during different stages of human skeletal development. Aggrecan and link protein expression were confined to chondrocytes of the developing skeleton and other cartilaginous structures. Distribution and intensity of the signal was identical with aggrecan as compared to link protein probes.
