Measurement ofB→XγDecays and Determination of|Vtd/Vts|

Using a sample of 383 million $B\bar{B}$ events collected by the $BaBar$ experiment, we measure sums of seven exclusive final states $B\to X_{d(s)}\gamma$, where $X_d$($X_s$) is a non-strange (strange) charmless hadronic system in the mass range $0.6-1.8$ GeV$/c^2$. After correcting for unmeasured decay modes in this mass range, we obtain a branching fraction for $b \to d \gamma$ of $(7.2\pm 2.7(stat.)\pm 2.3(syst.))\times 10^{-6}$. Taking the ratio of $X_d$ to $X_s$ we find $\Gamma(b \to d \gamma)/\Gamma(b \to s \gamma) = 0.033 \pm 0.013 (stat.) \pm 0.009 (syst.),$ from which we determine $|V_{td}/V_{ts}|=0.177\pm 0.043$.

Determination of the Branching Fraction forB→XcℓνDecays and of|Vcb|from Hadronic-Mass and Lepton-Energy Moments

We determine the inclusive B --> Xc l nu branching fraction, the CKM matrix element |Vcb|, and other heavy-quark parameters from a simultaneous fit to moments of the hadronic-mass and lepton-energy distributions in semileptonic B-meson decays, measured as a function of the lower limit on the lepton energy, using data recorded with the BABAR detector. Using Heavy Quark Expansions (HQEs) to order 1/mb^3, we extract BR_cenu=(10.61 +- 0.16(exp) +- 0.06(HQE))% and |Vcb| = (41.4 +- 0.4(exp) +- 0.4(HQE) +- 0.6(th)) 10^-3. The stated errors refer to the experimental, HQE, and additional theoretical uncertainties.

QEC value of the superallowed β emitter Sc42

Precise measurements of superallowed ${0}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{0}^{+}$ $\ensuremath{\beta}$ decay presently provide the most precise value for the weak mixing amplitude ${V}_{u\phantom{\rule{0}{0ex}}d}$. As the largest element of the CKM matrix, ${V}_{u\phantom{\rule{0}{0ex}}d}$ is a critical piece of the Standard Model of the electroweak interaction. The new, precise Penning-trap mass measurement of the decay energy for the superallowed transition in ${}^{42}$Sc opens the door for a much more precise $f\phantom{\rule{0}{0ex}}t$ value determination if its half-life can be measured more precisely as well.

Testing generalized CP symmetries with precision studies at DUNE

We examine the capabilities of the DUNE experiment in probing leptonic CP violation within the framework of theories with generalized CP symmetries characterized by the texture zeros of the corresponding CP transformation matrices. We investigate DUNE's potential to probe the two least known oscillation parameters, the atmospheric mixing angle $\theta_{23}$ and the Dirac CP-phase $\delta_{\rm CP}$. We fix theory-motivated benchmarks for ($ \sin^2\theta_{23}, \delta_{\rm CP} $) and take them as true values in our simulations. Neutrino oscillations from warped flavor symmetry: predictions for long baseline experiments T2K, NOvA and DUNE

Here we study the pattern of neutrino oscillations emerging from a previously proposed warped model construction incorporating $\Delta(27)$ flavor symmetry. In addition to a complete description of fermion masses, the model predicts the lepton mixing matrix in terms of two parameters. The good measurement of $\theta_{13}$ makes these two parameters nearly proportional, leading to an approximate one-parameter description of neutrino oscillations. There is a sharp fourfold degenerate correlation between $\delta_{CP}$ and the atmospheric mixing angle $\theta_{23}$, so that maximal $\theta_{23}$ also implies maximal leptonic CP violation. Classifying CP transformations according to their texture zeros: theory and implications

We provide a classification of generalized CP symmetries preserved by the neutrino mass matrix according to the number of zero entries in the associated transformation matrix. We determine the corresponding constrained form of the lepton mixing matrix, characterized by correlations between the mixing angles and the CP violating phases. We compare with the corresponding restrictions from current neutrino oscillation global fits and show that, in some cases, the Dirac CP phase characterizing oscillations is highly constrained. Determination of the ηHe3 threshold structure from the low energy pd→ηHe3 reaction

We analyze the data on cross sections and asymmetries for the $pd\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\eta}\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}^{3}\mathrm{He}$ reaction close to threshold and look for bound states of the $\ensuremath{\eta}\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}^{3}\mathrm{He}$ system. Rather than parameterizing the scattering matrix, as is usually done, we develop a framework in which the $\ensuremath{\eta}{\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}}^{3}\mathrm{He}$ optical potential is the key ingredient, and its strength, together with some production parameters, are fitted to the available experimental data. The authors present a search for D{sup 0}-{bar D}{sup 0} mixing using regions of phase space in which the rate of doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decays D{sup 0} {yields} K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}{pi}{sup 0} relative to Cabibbo-favored decays D{sup 0} {yields} K{sup -} {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup 0} is reduced. They analyze 230.4 fb{sup -1} of data collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e{sup +}e{sup -} collider at SLAC. They present results with and without the assumption of CP conservation. Neutrino Unification

Present neutrino data are consistent with neutrino masses arising from a common seed at some ``neutrino unification'' scale $M_X$. Such a simple theoretical ansatz naturally leads to quasi-degenerate neutrinos that could lie in the electron-volt range with neutrino mass splittings induced by renormalization effects associated with supersymmetric thresholds. In such a scheme the leptonic analogue of the Cabibbo angle $\theta_{\odot}$ describing solar neutrino oscillations is nearly maximal.
