Chromatic compensation of broadband light diffraction: ABCD-matrix approach

Compensation of chromatic dispersion for the optical implementation of mathematical transformations has proved to be an important tool in the design of new optical methods for full-color signal processing. A novel approach for designing dispersion-compensated, broadband optical transformers, both Fourier and Fresnel, based on the collimated Fresnel number is introduced. The proper functioning of the dopaminergic system requires the coordinated formation of projections extending from dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra (SN), ventral tegmental area (VTA) and retrorubral field to a wide array of forebrain targets including the striatum, nucleus accumbens and prefrontal cortex. Adhesion of 8701-BC breast cancer cells to type V collagen and 67 kDa receptor

Ductal infiltration carcinomas (d.i.c.) of the breast are potentially highly metastatic tumours, associated with drastic alterations of the architecture and molecular composition of the extracellular matrix at the tumour-host interface. 8701-BC, a recently characterized cell line, isolated from primary d.i.c., was used to study different aspects of tumor cell-substratum interactions. Since type V collagen deposition is augmented in d.i.c. we have examined the ability of 8701-BC cells to interact with this collagen species. The final enzymatic step required for collagen cross-linking is the extracellular oxidative deamination of peptidyl-lysine and -hydroxylysine residues by lysyl oxidase. A cross-linked collagenous extracellular matrix is required for bone formation. The goals of this study were to compare the transforming growth factor (TGF)-beta 1 regulation of lysyl oxidase enzyme activity and steady state mRNA levels to changes in COL1A1 mRNA levels in MC3T3-E1 osteoblastic cells. Local disequilibrium of plagioclase in high-temperature shear zones of the Ivrea Zone, Italy

Microstructural and chemical analysis of plagioclase in 20 superficially similar amphibolite facies ductile shear zones in metagabbors and amphibolites of the Ivrea Zone in Italy reveals significant differences in An and Ba contents. Plagioclase, which was deformed at P-T conditions lower than those of the wall rocks, occurs in the following four different microstructural situations with different chemical compositions: (i) relatively undeformed porphyroclasts, (ii) dynamically recrystallized grains and subgrains rimming the porphyroclasts, (iii) infill of microcracks cross-cutting the porphyroclasts and (iv) fine-grained recrystallized grains in the matrix of the shear zones. In this paper, we introduce the concept of recursive least squares graph filters for online topology inference in data networks that are modelled as Causal Graph Processes (CGP). A Causal Graph Process (CGP) is an auto regressive process in the time series associated to different variables, and whose coefficients are the so-called graph filters, which are matrix polynomials with different orders of the graph adjacency matrix. SUMMARY A conventional block cyclic reduction algorithm operates by halving the size of the linear system at each reduction step, that is, the algorithm is a radix-2 method. An algorithm analogous to the block cyclic reduction known as the radix-q partial solution variant of the cyclic reduction (PSCR) method allows the use of higher radix numbers and is thus more suitable for parallel architectures as it requires fever reduction steps. Self-calibration of a PTZ Camera Using New LMI Constraints

In this paper, we propose a very reliable and flexible method for self-calibrating rotating and zooming cameras - generally referred to as PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras. The proposed method employs a Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) resolution approach and allows extra tunable constraints on the intrinsic parameters to be taken into account during the process of estimating these parameters. Furthermore, the considered constraints are simultaneously enforced in all views rather than in a single reference view. The results of our experiments show that the proposed approach allows for significant improvement in terms of accuracy and robustness when compared against state of the art methods.
