The generalized cross correlation (GCC) is regarded as the most popular approach for estimating the time difference of arrival (TDOA) between the signals received at two sensors. Time delay estimates are obtained by maximizing the GCC output, where the direct-path delay is usually observed as a prominent peak. Riccati equation-based generalization of Dawson's integral function

A new generalization of Dawson's integral function based on the link between a Riccati nonlinear differential equation and a second-order ordinary differential equation is reported. The MacLaurin expansion of this generalized function is built up and to this end an explicit formula for a generic cofactor of a triangular matrix is deduced.

This paper deals with the observer design for Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy models subject to unknown inputs and disturbance affecting both states and outputs of the system. Sufficient conditions to design an unknown input T-S observer are given in Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs) terms. Relaxations are introduced by using intermediate variables. Calibrating a safety performance function (SPF) with many years of accident data creates a temporal correlation that traditional model calibration procedures cannot deal with. It is well known that generalized estimating equations (GEE) models are able to incorporate trends into accident data and thus overcome difficulties in accounting for correlation; the usual application of GEEs to safety analysis uses robust (or sandwich) estimates of regression coefficients under the independence hypothesis for the working correlation matrix. [EN] The {R, s +1, k}- and {R, s +1, k, *}-potent matrices have been studied in several recent papers. We continue these investigations from a spectral point of view. Specifically, a spectral study of {R, s + 1, k} -potent matrices is developed using characterizations involving an associated matrix pencil (A, R). The corresponding spectral study for {R, s+ 1, k, *}-potent matrices involves the pencil (A*, R). In order to present some properties, the relevance of the projector I - AA(#). where A(#) is the group inverse of A is highlighted. In addition, some applications and numerical examples are given, particularly involving Pauli matrices and the quaternions.
Differential occurrence of S100A7 in breast cancer tissues: A proteomic-based investigation

Purpose The present study reports for the first time a large-scale proteomic screening of the occurrence, subcellular localization and relative quantification of the S100A7 protein among a group of 100 patients, clinically grouped for the diagnosis of infiltrating ductal carcinoma (IDC). Experimental design To this purpose, the methods of differential proteomics, Western blotting, and immunohistochemistry were used. AX-PET: A novel PET detector concept with full 3D reconstruction

We describe the concept and first experimental tests of a novel 3D axial Positron Emission Tomography (PET) geometry. It allows for a new way of measuring the interaction point in the detector with very high precision. It is based on a matrix of long Lutetium-Yttrium OxyorthoSilicate (LYSO) crystals oriented in the axial direction, each coupled to one Geiger Mode Avalanche Photodiode (G-APD) array. To derive the axial coordinate, Wave Length Shifter (WLS) strips are mounted orthogonally and interleaved between the crystals. The light from the WLS strips is read by custom-made G-APDs.
