Englanninkielisen lectio praecursorian pohjalta suomennetussa artikkelissa johdatellaan väitöskirjan peruskysymykseen yleistajuisesti ja esittelevästi. Maurice Merleau-Pontyn (1908–1961) tulkinta René Descartesin (1596–1650) filosofiasta on omaperäinen erityisesti siksi, että hän ei pyri vain muodostamaan historiallisesti korrektia käsitystä Descartesin teoksista vaan hänen tavoitteensa on ennenkaikkea näyttää mikä Descartesin muodostamissa filosofisissa kysymyksissä ja rakenteissa vaikuttaa yhä nykyfilosofiassa. Our research questions, form a comparative angle, not just the impact of these political choice but also the consequences of the way the two systems are run in terms of school democratisation. In order to do this, we make a point of putting in perspective the differentiated paths in school followed by pupils from a sample of schools in Mauritius and Réunion. This article examines, from a comparative perspective, not only the impact of political decisions on education but also the way in which the different educational systems in two islands affect the democratisation of learning. In order to do this, the authors compare the educational trajectories of different pupils from a range of schools in Mauritius and Réunion. Discussions revolving around cyborgs seldom include aesthetics, let alone propose aesthetics as an inextricable part of the phenomenon of the cyborg. Rather, the term “cyborg”, a contraction of “cybernetic organism”, evokes a figure of the (hu)man- machine. In the field of social and political sciences, the cyborg is designated a human-machine hybrid, a metaphor of humans becoming machinelike, or a portrait of (political) agency in an era of high technology. Väitöskirjatutkimuksessani Phenomenological Ontology of Breathing tutkin fenomenologisesti hengityksen filosofiaa, so. miten hengittäminen voisi olla filosofinen kysymys ja miten eletty kokemus hengityksestä voisi mahdollisesti avata ja jäsentää meille aivan uuden tavan tehdä filosofiaa. L'œuvre romanesque de E. M. Forster se définit tout autant par ses intrigues codées et désormais étiquetées « édouardiennes », que par son esthétique du non-dit, du silence et de l'invisible. Cette écriture du secret et de la rétention, qui retient l'information et la réserve hors du texte, sait aussi jouer des codes typographiques pour suggérer l'essentiel dans les blancs du texte. Réserves au sens d'« épargne », ces espaces textuels deviennent encore plus remarquables lorsque l'on interroge les différents manuscrits de ce texte dont la première version de 1914 allait connaître maintes réécritures avant la publication posthume de 1971.
