Objectives: To evaluate graft types used for maxillary sinus augmentation and review success rates of dental implants inserted in these areas, analyzing the graft materials used, implant surface types and the moment of implant placement. Study Design: A meta-analytic study reviewing articles on sinus augmentation published during the last ten years. Results: 3,975 implants placed in sinus augmentations (with bony windows) were registered, of which 3,749 implants survived, a survival rate of 94.3%. Mucormycosis of maxillary sinus in a newly diagnosed case of diabetes mellitus

Rhinocerebral mucormycosis is the third most common fungal infection after aspergillosis and candidiasis. The importance of mucormycosis has grown in recent years, as the number of patients has increased dramatically. Herein, we present a case of a newly diagnosed patient of diabetes mellitus having ulcerated palate and destruction of maxillary sinus evident on computed tomography scan. A biopsy report was suggestive of mucormycosis. Aggressive medical and surgical treatment was done along with the treatment of diabetes mellitus.

Osteosarcoma of maxilla: a case report

Osteosarcoma is a common primary malignant bone tumor producing osteoid or bone. It occurs very infrequently in the jaws and comprises of 4% of the tumour number as compared to the osteosarcoma of the long bones. Os- teosarcoma of the maxilla is even rarer presenting with common clinical features of pain and swelling. This pre- sented case is a rare case of osteosarcoma of maxilla in a 21-year-old female patient.
