Purpose: To investigate the associations of directly measured peak oxygen uptake (V˙O2peak) and body fat percentage (BF%) with arterial stiffness and arterial dilatation capacity in children. Methods: Findings are based on 329 children (177 boys and 152 girls) aged 8–11 years. V˙O2peak was assessed by a maximal cardiopulmonary exercise test on a cycle ergometer and scaled by lean body mass (LM). BF% and LM were measured by bioelectrical impedance. (2001; Hydrological Processes15: 3225–3238) for rectangular straight hillslopes was extended to convergent and divergent surfaces and to concave and convex profiles. This article proposes to deal with noisy and variable size color textures. It also proposes to deal with quantization methods and to see how such methods change final results. The method we use to analyze the robustness of the textures consists of an auto-classification of modified textures. Texture parameters are computed for a set of original texture samples and stored into a database. Such a database is created for each quantization method. Textures from the set of original samples are then modified, eventually quantized and classified according to classes determined from a precomputed database. In this paper, we have studied the statistical properties of the capacity of Rice channels for both maximal ratio combining (MRC) and equal gain combining (EGC) schemes. We have analyzed the effect of the number of diversity branches and the amplitude of the line-of-sight (LOS) components in the diversity branches on the statistics of the channel capacity. Specifically, we have derived analytical expressions for the probability density function (PDF), cumulative distribution function (CDF), level-crossing rate (LCR), and average duration of fades (ADF) of the capacity of Rice channels when using MRC and EGC. The aging process, along with the lifestyle, is associated with loses in functional capacity and independence due to factors such as decreases in muscle mass, strength, and aerobic capacity, among others. Fluorescence emission and excitation spectra of single MEH-PPV molecules dispersed in three different host polymers (PMMA, PS, and Zeonex) have been recorded at 1.2 K. We observed only minor effects of the host matrix on the following parameters: the ratios of single-chromophoric to multichromophoric emission, the widths of the distributions of emission maxima, and the (generally very low) fraction of emission spectra with sharp zero-phonon lines. The differences are tentatively attributed to different conformations of MEH-PPV chains, subtle variations in local chromophore−matrix interactions, and/or different distributions of conjugation lengths of emitting chromophores, respectively. Phase diagrams were calculated for flowing solutions of polystyrene in trans-decahydronaphthalene assuming that the energy (Es) stored in the sheared state has to be added to the Gibbs energy of mixing; Es is computed from viscometric data (flow curves). The resulting phase diagrams exhibit two maxima in most of the cases instead of only one for the stagnant solutions. A comparison with experimental data (Part 1) shows that the calculated demixing behaviour agrees well for moderate shear rates and concentrations of the polymer.
