Simulated skiing as a measurement tool for performance in cross-country sit-skiing

The International Paralympic Committee mandates the development of an evidence-based classification system, which requires a measure of performance. Performance in cross-country sit-skiing is mainly dependent on force generated during the poling phase and is enhanced by trunk flexion–extension movements. A fully automatic 2D segmentation method for uterine fibroid in MRgFUS treatment evaluation

PurposeMagnetic Resonance guided Focused UltraSound (MRgFUS) represents a non-invasive surgical approach that uses thermal ablation to treat uterine fibroids. The aim of this study was to offer an additional point of view of the age political discourse on work endurance, initiated by Finland’s public administration in the early 2000s. The personal experiences of the staff of a multi-professional work community were exploited to find clues to occupational well-being and endurance at work. Seventeen employees aged 45—64 at the actual work community were chosen as data or material for study, i.e. to be interviewed. Bakalaura darba “Laika apzīmējumi Homēra Odisejas valodā” mērķis ir izpētīt laika apzīmējumu formu un funkcionējumu Homēra Odisejas valodā. Lai sasniegtu izvirzīto mērķi, bakalaura darba teorētiskajā daļā apskatīti gan mūsdienu zinātnieku pētījumu materiāli par Homēra eposu Odiseja, gan Aristoteļa teorētiskās atziņas par episko stilu. Apskatīta arī teorētiskā literatūra par vārda semantiku. Darba gaitā tika pētīta laika apzīmējumu nozīme eposa kontekstā. Pārliecinošu valodas līdzekļu lietojums uzņēmumu misiju apgalvojumos

Šajā bakalaura darbā tiek analizēti pārliecinošie valodas līdzekļi un to izmantošana uzņēmumu misiju apgalvojumos klientu uzmanības piesaistīšanai. Pētījuma mērķa sasniegšanai tika izmantotas dīvas metodes: atbilstošās literatūras izpēte un diskursa analīze. Pētījuma datu kopums sastāv no trīsdesmit naftas kompāniju misiju apgalvojumiem. Tika secināts, ka misiju apgalvojumos izmantotie pārliecinošie valodas izteiksmes līdzekļi ietekmē lasītāju piesaistot to uzmanību. Turklāt, pētījums atklāj, ka izvēlētajā korpusā visbiežāk izmantotie pārliecinošās valodas līdzekļi ir: īpašības vārds (26%), iekļaujošā valoda (19%), vietniekvārdi (18%), atkārtošanās (17%), aliterācija (12%).

Bakalaura darbā tiek pētīts neverbālo komunikācijas līdzekļu lietojums britu un amerikāņu lietišķajās prezentācijās. Pētījuma mērķis ir analizēt un salīdzināt neverbālo līdzekļu lietojumu apkopotajās prezentācijās. Pētījuma metodes, kuras pielietotas pētījuma izstrādē, ietver ar pētījuma tematu saistītu teorētisko materiālu analīzi un gadījuma izpēti. Šajā darbā teorija tiek piemērota praksē, pētot neverbālās komunikācijas līdzekļus divās lietišķajās prezentācijās. Pētījuma rezultāti atklāj esošās līdzības un atšķirības, kuras pastāv starp britu un amerikāņu oratoriem, ņemot vērā kineksiku, okuleksiku, paralingvistiku un proksēmiku.

Improving Scalable K-Means++

Two new initialization methods for K-means clustering are proposed. Both proposals are based on applying a divide-and-conquer approach for the K-means‖ type of an initialization strategy. The second proposal also uses multiple lower-dimensional subspaces produced by the random projection method for the initialization. The proposed methods are scalable and can be run in parallel, which make them suitable for initializing large-scale problems.
