What is the Meaning of an Early Anastomotic Recurrence after Curative Right Hemicolectomy? A Synchronous, Metachronous, or What Else?

In this paper we present a case of unexpected early local recurrence after surgery for colon cancer. Notably, an anastomotic recurrence was diagnosed two months after curative right hemicolectomy. Accurate preoperative endoscopic and radiological explorations were carried out, the resection was performed according to the oncological surgical principles, and the pathologic report confirmed the oncological radicality of the treatment performed. Therefore, the precocity of local recurrence appeared surprising, and led us to carry out a review of the literature in order to look into its possible explanations. The results of this research are presented.

Being able to continue living in their own home as long as possible is the general preference for many older people, and this is also in line with the public policy in the Nordic countries. The aim of this study was to elucidate the meaning of self-care and health for perception of life situation and identity among single-living older individuals in rural areas in southern Norway. Eleven older persons with a mean age of 78 years were interviewed and encouraged to narrate their self-care and health experiences. The moderating role of meaning in life in the relationship between perceived stress and diurnal cortisol.

Previous studies have suggested that meaning in life may buffer the negative effects of stress. This study is the first to investigate the moderating role of meaning in life in the relationship between the perception of stress and diurnal cortisol in two independent samples of healthy adults. The study examined the relationships between meaning in life and cognitive functioning in three elderly samples. The participants in Sample I were 78 persons aged 82–87, in Sample II 182 persons aged 83–92, and in Sample III 299 persons aged 65—69. The samples took part in interviews and cognitive tests in 1996–1997. AbstractAdolescents have come to be greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing containment measures in recent months. The aim of the present study was to examine the relations among religiosity, meaning-making, fear of COVID-19, and subjective well-being within a moderated mediation model. Three hundred and sixteen late adolescents (173 women and 143 men) in Poland volunteered to take part in the study. The results show that meaning-making mediated relationships between religiosity and life satisfaction, religiosity and positive affect, and religiosity and negative affect.
