Prediction of BOD5 content of the inflow to the treatment plant using different methods of black box - the case study

The publication presents the possibility of modeling in a 1 d advance of the content of organic compounds in the influent wastewater to the treatment plant, where the content of these compounds is determined by both the biochemical and chemical oxygen demand. To predict the quality of the wastewater at the inflow a set of indicators where used to make measurements on a daily basis. In this paper we present techniques for comparison between behavioral level and register transfer level (RTL) design descriptions by mapping the designs into virtual controllers and virtual datapaths. We also discuss about how the equivalence between behavioral level and RTL designs can be defined precisely using the proposed "attribute statements" in an interactive fashion. Implementation issues as well as considerations on real life industrial design examples are presented as well.

Thermal inertia has been applied to map soil water content exploiting remote sensing data in the short and long wave regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. Over the last years, optical and thermal cameras were sufficiently miniaturized to be loaded onboard of unmanned aerial systems (UASs), which provide unprecedented potentials to derive hyperspatial resolution thermal inertia for soil water content mapping. A new proof for the equivalence of weak and viscosity solutions for the p-Laplace equation

In this paper, we give a new proof for the fact that the distributional weak solutions and the viscosity solutions of the $p$-Laplace equation $-\diver(\abs{Du}^{p-2}Du)=0$ coincide. Our proof is more direct and transparent than the original one by Juutinen, Lindqvist and Manfredi \cite{jlm}, which relied on the full uniqueness machinery of the theory of viscosity solutions. We establish a similar result also for the solutions of the non-homogeneous version of the $p$-Laplace equation.

We have measured the spectral content of the echo radiation emitted by a two-level spin system ([${\mathrm{AlO}}_{4}$${]}^{0}$ centers in quartz), after a two-pulse excitation sequence, ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\theta}}}_{1}$-\ensuremath{\tau}-${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\theta}}}_{2}$. In general, the experimental spectral shapes reproduce qualitatively those calculated for an inhomogeneous system of noninteracting spins. We present a study on the features of the Urbach edge in amorphous silicon dioxide $(a{\text{-SiO}}_{2})$. The effects of temperature on the absorption edge in the range from 4 to 300 K were studied in both materials having negligible (dry, $l{10}^{17}\text{ }{\text{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$) and significant (wet, $g{10}^{19}\text{ }{\text{cm}}^{\ensuremath{-}3}$) silanol groups contents. Remarkable differences in the values and in the temperature dependence of the Urbach energy in the dry and wet samples were observed. Ultrahigh vacuum (UHV)-deposited films of the mixed phase of tetramethoxypyrene and tetracyanoquinodimethane $({\text{TMP}}_{1}{\text{-TCNQ}}_{1})$ on gold have been studied using ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS), x-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared (IR) spectroscopy, and scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS). The formation of an intermolecular charge-transfer (CT) compound is evident from the appearance of new reflexes in XRD (${d}_{1}=0.894\text{ }\text{nm}$ and ${d}_{2}=0.677\text{ }\text{nm}$).
