Quasi-Stationary Distribution and Gibbs Measure of Expanding Systems

Let T be an expanding transformation defined on A —(J A{, i= 1being a finite collection of connected open bounded subsets of 2Rn,such that T Acontains strictly Aand Tis Markovian. We prove the existence of a quasi-stationary distrition for T. We show that the T-invariant probability on the limit Cantor set is Gibbsian with potential Log|_DT|. Using the Hilbert projective metric we prove that both distributions are weak limits of conditional laws of probabilities, the speed of convergence being exponential. These results develop a previous work by G. Pianigiani and J.A. Yorke.

Temperature and time dependent electron trapping in Al2O3 thin films onto AlGaN/GaN heterostructures

In this article, the charge trapping phenomena in Al2O3 thin films grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD) on AlGaN/GaN heterostructures have been studied by time-dependent capacitance–voltage (C-V) measurements as a function of temperature. In particular, monitoring the transient of the capacitance enabled us to estimate the maximum depth of the insulating layer interested by the negative charge trapping effect under our bias stress conditions and to determine a charge traps density in the bulk Al2O3 in the order of 3 × 1019 cm−3. Toxicity of waste gasification bottom ash leachate

Abstract Toxicity of waste gasification bottom ash leachate from landfill lysimeters (112 m3) was studied over three years. The leachate of grate incineration bottom ash from a parallel setup was used as reference material. Three aquatic organisms (bioluminescent bacteria, green algae and water flea) were used to study acute toxicity. In addition, an ethoxyresorufin-O-deethylase (EROD) assay was performed with mouse hepatoma cells to indicate the presence of organic contaminants. Concentrations of 14 elements and 15 PAH compounds were determined to characterise leachate. Abstract Background High blood lipid levels are known risk factors for atherosclerotic cardiovascular events, but associations between lipid levels and atrial fibrillation (AF) are unclear. Some previous studies have suggested an inverse association between lipid levels and AF referred to as the “cholesterol paradox”. Abstract In order to study the sensitivity of two fish species, carp (Cyprinus carpio) and rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), to the immunomodulatory effects of ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation, the fish were exposed to a single UVB dose of 50, 250, 500 or 1000 mJ cm−2. These species represent different phylogenetic groups of fish, and they differ also in their behaviour inhabitating often dark and turbid (carp) or clear and transparent waters (salmonids). Output Field-Quadrature Measurements and Squeezing in Ultrastrong Cavity-QED

We study the squeezing of output quadratures of an electro-magnetic field escaping from a resonator coupled to a general quantum system with arbitrary interaction strengths. The generalized theoretical analysis of output squeezing proposed here is valid for all the interaction regimes of cavity-quantum electrodynamics: from the weak to the strong, ultrastrong, and deep coupling regimes. For coupling rates comparable or larger then the cavity resonance frequency, the standard input–output theory for optical cavities fails to calculate the variance of output field-quadratures and predicts a non-negligible amount of output squeezing, even if the system is in its ground state.
