Meta-analysis of the relationship between teachers’ self-efficacy and attitudes toward inclusive education
2022
Abstract This meta-study aims to examine the size of the relationship between teachers' self-efficacy and attitudes toward inclusive education of K-12 students with special educational needs and to identify potential moderators (publication, sample, and research procedure characteristics). We synthesized the research conducted from 1994 to 2018, and 41 studies were included. Bare-bones meta-analysis with random effect model revealed a sample size weighted correlation coefficient between teachers’ self-efficacy and attitudes as r ¯ = 0.35 (CI = 0.31-0.39). The between-study variations were not associated with hypothesized publication and sample characteristics. However, the self-efficacy me…
Closure to “New Theoretical Solution of Stage-Discharge Relationship for Slit Weirs” by Vito Ferro and Ismail Aydin
2018
In this paper, the flow-process of a slit weir was analyzed on the basis of a theorem of dimensional analysis and incomplete self-similarity theory. The theoretically deduced stage-discharge formula then was calibrated using experimental data obtained for a ratio between the weir and the channel width, ranging from 0.05 to 0.25. The deduced stage-discharge relationship allowed measuring discharge values characterized by errors that, for 98% of the measured values, were less than or equal to +/- 5%. The performance of the proposed theoretical stage-discharge formula also was improved by introducing the Reynolds number (for 98.5% of the measured values the error was less than or equal to +/- …
Recent applications of flow-injection and sequential-injection analysis techniques to chemiluminescence determination of pharmaceuticals
2007
Abstract A review is presented on the state of the art of the chemiluminescence analysis of pharmaceuticals by the two most relevant automated controlled-flow methodologies—flow-injection analysis (FIA) and sequential-injection analysis (SIA). The current chemiluminometric applications of FIA and SIA in pharmaceutical analysis are discussed with special emphasis on the analytical figures of merit and sample matrix characteristics. The review involving 211 references and covering papers published between 2001 and 2006 is divided into several sections according to the fundamental types of chemiluminescence systems employed.
Navigating efficiency and effectiveness relationships across local government services: Another step toward strategic resource management
2013
A major part of maintaining a well-managed performance measurement system in local government is providing the infrastructure for performance management. The problem is that local officials often struggle with moving from adopting performance measures to actually using them for improving services and for making resource allocation decisions. This article responds to this struggle by presenting information on the relationships between efficiency and effectiveness measures across six local government service areas, with the goal of providing guidance on using performance measures to support strategic resource management. Our research suggests that stronger correlations exist between efficienc…
Handling stakeholder uncertain judgments in strategic transport service analyses
2013
Abstract The quality level of services has to be constantly controlled, especially under conditions of competition increasing and limited resources. However, considering that service performance analyses are based on stakeholders' judgments, they can be characterized by possible uncertainties related to incompleteness for partial ignorance, imprecision for subjectivity and even vagueness. Therefore, under these conditions, unreliable results can be obtained by widely used service analysis methodologies. In the present paper, a methodology based on a recent extension of the SERVQUAL model, and that uses in combined manner the fuzzy set theory and the analytic hierarchy process method is prop…
Innovative public governance through cloud computing
2014
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to identify and analyze challenges and to discuss proposed solutions for innovative public governance through cloud computing. Innovative technologies, such as federation of services and cloud computing, can greatly contribute to the provision of e-government services, through scaleable and flexible systems. Furthermore, they can facilitate in reducing costs and overcoming public information segmentation. Nonetheless, when public agencies use these technologies, they encounter several associated organizational and technical changes, as well as significant challenges. Design/methodology/approach – We followed a multidisciplinary perspective (social, be…
ADC based measurements: Identification of the parameters for the uncertainty evaluation
2009
In the last years, many Authors have dealt with the uncertainty evaluation of the measurement performed by using an analog-to-digital converter, proposing different approach to analyze the uncertainty propagation. In all these studies, it is clearly pointed out that starting from the manufacturer specifications is the least expensive, the least time consuming and, often, the most accurate way to assess the uncertainties. However, the Authors, which have proposed methodologies for the uncertainty assessment, use different parameters as starting point. One of the main reasons which has caused this situation is the coexistent of various Standards concerning the characterization of the analog-t…
Postharvest quality and sensory attributes of ‘pesca di bivona’ peaches (Prunus persica L.) during storage
2017
“Pesca di Bivona” ‘Murtiddara’, ‘Bianca’, ‘Agostina’, and ‘Settembrina’ are non-melting white flesh peach landraces characterized by a persistent aroma and excellent flavour highly appreciated by Italian consumers. The aim of this work was to assess the persistence of their quality and sensory profiles after storage at 0 °C for 28 days, using destructive and non-destructive analyses. The IAD index, measured either at harvest or at fruit removal from cold storage, was correlated to TSS, TA and firmness of all the landraces. ‘Settembrina’ and ‘Agostina’ harvested at the right ripening time (50.5 ± 4.3 N) and stored at 0 °C during 4 weeks kept harvest quality in terms of sensorial attributes, …
Exploring the use of displaced beam scintillometer for daytime measurement of surface energy fluxes over a Mediterranean Olive Orchard
2014
Studies have shown that the footprint of a single eddy covariance (EC) system may not yield representative measurements of the turbulent fluxes at the field scale for sparse vegetated surfaces, whereas scintillometry, due to its larger footprint, may be more suitable for this purpose. However, the latter approach strongly relies on the Monin-Obukov similarity theory (MOST) that strictly applies in the inertial sub-layer only. This work aims at experimentally confirm the reliability of displaced-beam laser scintillometers (DBLS) measurements over an olive orchard against two EC systems during summer and autumn months of 2007 through 2009. It was found that the DBLS underestimated both the mo…
Morphological characteristics of ephemeral gullies in Sicily, south Italy
2011
Ephemeral gullies (EGs) are channels of different sizes refilled by tillage equipment normally used on farms. In this paper, the data-set collected from 1995 to 2007 in a wheat-cultivated area in Raddusa (Sicily, Italy), having a surface of almost 80 ha, were used to analyze the morphological characteristics of EGs. The measurements show an high temporal variability in EG characteristics. The EG measurements and the rill erosion measurements carried out in 15 plots located in the experimental “Sparacia” area (Sicily), demonstrated that a morphological similarity condition exists between rills and ephemeral gullies. The occurrence of step-pool structures in an EG occurring in the observation…
