Electrical and structural characterization of metal-oxide-semiconductor capacitors with silicon rich oxide

2001

Metal-oxide-semiconductor capacitors in which the gate oxide has been replaced with a silicon rich oxide (SRO) film sandwiched between two thin SiO2 layers are presented and investigated by transmission electron microscopy and electrical measurements. The grain size distribution and the amount of crystallized silicon remaining in SRO after annealing have been studied by transmission electron microscopy, whereas the charge trapping and the charge transport through the dots in the SRO layer have been extensively investigated by electrical measurements. Furthermore, a model, which explains the electrical behavior of such SRO capacitors, is presented and discussed. © 2001 American Institute of …

Influence on PD Parameters due to Voltage Conducted Disturbances

2004

In the standard specification of ac dielectric-characteristic measurements of insulating materials, test voltage is prescribed as "approximately sinusoidal" when the highest acceptable deviation of the HV waveform, from the correct sinusoidal shape, is limited to a /spl plusmn/5% tolerance range of the crest factor value. In the field of partial discharge (PD) measurements and their statistical data processing, on which forecasts of long term behavior of components and their reliability are currently carried out, the results of elaborations depend on the voltage wave shape. In this paper, the errors in PD measurements, evaluated at industrial frequencies, due to applied voltages distorted b…

Gold-assisted mechanical exfoliation currently represents a promising method to separate ultralarge (centimeter scale) transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) monolayers (1L) with excellent electronic and optical properties from the parent van der Waals (vdW) crystals. The strong interaction between Au and chalcogen atoms is key to achieving this nearly perfect 1L exfoliation yield. On the other hand, it may significantly affect the doping and strain of 1L TMDs in contact with Au. In this paper, we systematically investigated the morphology, strain, doping, and electrical properties of large area 1L MoS2 exfoliated on ultraflat Au films (0.16-0.21 nm roughness) and finally transferred to an i…

Magnetic Field Gradiometer with Sub-Micron Spatial Resolution Based on Caesium Vapour in an Extremely Thin Cell

2015

Abstract In this paper we present a device for measuring the magnetic field and its gradient with a spatial resolution of several hundred nanometres. This device is based on caesium metal vapour confined to an extremely thin cell (ETC). To measure magnetic signals, we use absorption and very low laser powers, which might be appealing for modern fabrication techniques. A portable, fully automated device was constructed.

RECOVERY OF THE SOUND SPEED FOR THE ACOUSTIC WAVE EQUATION FROM PHASELESS MEASUREMENTS

2018

We recover the higher order terms for the acoustic wave equation from measurements of the modulus of the solution. The recovery of these coefficients is reduced to a question of stability for inverting a Hamiltonian flow transform, not the geodesic X-ray transform encountered in other inverse boundary problems like the determination of conformal factors. We obtain new stability results for the Hamiltonian flow transform, which allow to recover the higher order terms.

Uncertainty evaluation in the differential measurements of power losses in a power drive system

2021

Abstract In order to guarantee a correct classification in the standardized energy efficiency classes, the current standards concerning the power drive systems prescribe that their power losses must be evaluated with great accuracy. This circumstance involves the usage of expensive measurement systems, since accurate instrumentation, skilled personnel and controlled environments are required. During the design stage of a power drive system, however, the measurement of the absolute value of its power losses is not always needed. Often, in fact, it is enough to assess the power losses variations caused by a modification of either hardware or software sections of the power drive system. In the…

Heavy metal sorption in biosorbents – Using spent grain from the brewing industry

2019

The sorption properties of brewer's spent grain (BSG) were assessed in terms of its usefulness in removing heavy metals from solutions. The specific objectives of the investigation involved studying sorption equilibrium and kinetics, assessing the influence of other cations on sorption efficiency, and examining the possibility of bed regeneration. The studies were carried out in a static system, with a constant ratio of solution volume to biosorbent mass, and using a flow through system. The affinity of metal cations to BSG functional groups was established and increased in the series: Mn2þzZn2þ < Ni2þ < Cd2þ < Cu2þ < Pb2þ. The BSG's sorption capacities (mmol g1), determined using the Lang…

Non-invasive investigation on pigments of the Aeolian Islands Neolithic pottery

2023

The Neolithic painted pottery, spread all over southern Italy, is considered as an important chronological indicator for the development of VI-V millennium BC prehistoric settlements and cultural traditions. The goal of this work is to contribute to the study of this ceramic class through the chemical characterization of some samples coming from the Aeolian Islands. 16 different sherds have been selected and the pigments preserved in their decorations analyzed via non-invasive techniques: Fiber Optical Reflectance Spectroscopy (FORS), X-ray Fluorescence (XRF), Raman Spectroscopy and Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR). The different pigments, some of which no longer clearly visible to the naked e…

Executive summary of EPOS 2020 including integrated care pathways.

2020

The European Position Paper on Rhinosinusitis and Nasal Polyps 2020 is the update of similar evidence based position papers published in 2005 and 2007 and 2012 (1-3). The core objective of the EPOS2020 guideline is to provide revised, up-to-date and clear evidence-based recommendations and integrated care pathways in ARS and CRS. EPOS2020 provides an update on the literature published and studies undertaken in the eight years since the EPOS2012 position paper was published and addresses areas not extensively covered in EPOS2012 such as paediatric CRS and sinus surgery. EPOS2020 also involves new stakeholders, including pharmacists and patients, and addresses new target users who have become…

Attentional biases toward emotional images in the different episodes of bipolar disorder: an eye-tracking study.

2014

Attentional biases toward emotional information may represent vulnerability and maintenance factors in bipolar disorder (BD). The present experimental study examined the processing of emotional information in BD patients using the eye-tracking technology. Bipolar patients in their different states (euthymia, mania, depression) simultaneously viewed four pictures with different emotional valence (happy, neutral, sad, threatening) for 20 s while their eye movements were monitored. A group of healthy individuals served as the control. The data revealed the following: (i) a decrease in attention to happy images in BD patients in their depressive episodes compared to healthy individuals, and (ii…
