The aim of this study was to investigate the cathodal iontophoresis of dexamethasone sodium phosphate (DEX-P) in vitro and in vivo and to determine the feasibility of delivering therapeutic amounts of the drug for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced emesis. Stability studies, performed to investigate the susceptibility of the phosphate ester linkage to hydrolysis, confirmed that conversion of DEX-P to dexamethasone (DEX) upon exposure to samples of human, porcine and rat dermis for 7 h was limited (82.2+/-0.4%, 72.5+/-4.8% and 78.6+/-6.0% remained intact) and did not point to any major inter-species differences. Abstract In Spain, the first bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) case was detected in 2000 in a cow born in the Galicia region (Northwestern Spain). From then and until October 2005, 590 cases were detected, 223 of them in Galicia. In 1994, meat and bone meal (MBM) was banned on ruminant feed and, in 1996, an EU decision mandating an overall change in MBM processing was implemented. This decision was gradually applied in the territory and not enforced before July 1998. Toxoplasma gondii seroprevalence in extensively farmed wild boars (Sus scrofa) in Denmark

Toxoplasma gondii is a zoonotic parasite of worldwide importance. In this study, we estimated T. gondii seroprevalence in extensively farmed wild boars in Denmark, where little is known about T. gondii in animal hosts. Our study focused on wild boars because they are considered good indicator species for the presence of T. gondii, and wild boar meat is used for human consumption. Serum samples from 101 wild boars collected in 2016-2018 from five different locations from the continental part of Denmark, Jutland, were screened for anti-T. gondii antibodies.
