Achieving operations performance objectives through networking strategy
2010
The main objective of this paper is to investigate how firms make strategic networking decisions in order to pursue competitive advantage. Literature analysis with theory building purposes and two case studies to support our theoretical findings and to explore the linkages between networking strategy and operations performance objectives constitute our research methods. Our analysis led to the definition of networking strategy in terms of decisional dimensions, and found effective linkages between networking decisions made by managers and wished operations performance objectives.
Networking Strategies as Enabler for Competitive Advantage Creation: market-based and resource-based Perspectives
2010
This paper explores the potential of networking strategy as a source of competitive advantage by integrating market-based and resource-based logics. It contributes to production economics literature by considering not just supply chain network structures but also others kinds of network that can emerge from horizontal agreements (i.e. alliances, partnerships, joint ventures, consortia, etc.). The paper reviews the literature and develops propositions regarding how make/buy/make together decisions, governance mechanisms and network-base structures allow firms both to pursue pre fixed operations performance objectives and obtain/create valuable resources. The practical applications of the pro…
Best Practices in Constant pH MD Simulations: Accuracy and Sampling
2022
Various approaches have been proposed to include the effect of pH in molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. Among these, the λ-dynamics approach proposed by Brooks and co-workers [Kong, X.; Brooks III, C. L. J. Chem. Phys.1996, 105, 2414−2423] can be performed with little computational overhead and hfor each typeence be used to routinely perform MD simulations at microsecond time scales, as shown in the accompanying paper [Aho, N. et al. J. Chem. Theory Comput.2022, DOI: 10.1021/acs.jctc.2c00516]. At such time scales, however, the accuracy of the molecular mechanics force field and the parametrization becomes critical. Here, we address these issues and provide the community with guidelines on…
Detailed modeling of the kraft pulping chemistry : carbohydrate reactions
2020
The article introduces a detailed model for carbohydrate chemistry in kraft pulping. This article is continuation to the modeling work carried out for hot water extraction and chemical pulp bleaching. The model includes galactoglucomannan, xylan, and cellulose acid–base equilibria, in addition to peeling, stopping, and alkaline hydrolysis reactions of the same carbohydrates, as well as hexenuronic acid formation and degradation reactions. The Arrhenius parameters were applied from the literature or regressed against experimental data in the present study. The model is very successful in predicting the experimental data of carbohydrate reactions during kraft pulping. Many features of the pul…
Review of Abnormal Self-Knowledge in Major Depressive Disorder
2019
Background: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is an affective disorder that is harmful to both physical and mental health. Abnormal self-knowledge, which refers to abnormal judgments about oneself, is a core symptom of depression. However, little research has summarized how and why patients with MDD differ from healthy individuals in terms of self-knowledge. Objective: To gain a better understanding of MDD, we reviewed previous studies that focused on the behavioral and neurological changes of self-knowledge in this illness. Main Findings: On the behavioral level, depressed individuals exhibited negative self-knowledge in an explicit way, while more heterogeneous patterns were reported in imp…
Coordination mechanisms and parent-subsidiary relationships in volatile environments: a theoretical approach
2015
Expression and characterization of the recombinant juvenile hormone epoxide hydrolase (JHEH) from Manduca sexta.
1998
The cDNA of the microsomal Juvenile Hormone Epoxide Hydrolase (JHEH) from Manduca sexta was expressed in vitro in the baculovirus system. In insect cell culture, the recombinant enzyme (Ms-JHEH) was produced at a high level (100 fold over background EH catalytic activity). As expected, Ms-JHEH was localized in the microsomal fraction with a molecular mass of approximately 50 kDa. Ms-JHEH showed a substrate and inhibitor spectrum similar to the wild type JHEH isolated from eggs of M. sexta. Its enzymatic activity was the highest for Juvenile Hormone III. Ms-JHEH hydrolyzed several trans-epoxides faster than cis-epoxides. A putative hydroxyl-acyl enzyme intermediate was isolated suggesting a …
How customer knowledge affects exploration : generating, guiding, and gatekeeping
2021
The importance of understanding customers in order to sustain the long-term success of the company has been claimed by academics and practitioners for decades, to the point that the claim has turned into a truism. And still, the role of customer knowledge in organizational renewal, especially via explorative new product development (NPD), remains ambiguous. While existing literature generally emphasizes the value of customer knowledge, critics argue that a strong customer focus can also de-motivate and misguide exploration. This study adds clarity to our understanding of this tension by drawing from an intensive analysis of the corporate archives of a rapidly growing high-tech company. The …
Mechanizm cenowy w powiązaniach kontraktowych z perspektywy teorii agencji.
