The "Invisible Children": Uncertain Future of Unaccompanied Minor Migrants in Europe.

2016

Because of their particular helpless condition, the unaccompanied minor migrants are at serious risk to be further deprived of their rights, and to become de facto “invisible” to the authorities, to the public health services, and in general to the public opinion. Furthermore, when they arrive at a destination, or during their journey through Europe, many children often vanish. The full dimension of such phenomenon that further hits the unaccompanied minors along their European migration routes currently is unknown. However, the intense migration that has affected the south Mediterranean borders of the EU over the last 10 years has allowed the collection of sufficient data to raise the high…

Psychometric properties of the measure of achieved capabilities in homeless services

2023

Abstract Background Purposeful participation in personally meaningful life tasks, enjoyment of positive reciprocal relationships, and opportunities to realize one’s potential are growth-related aspects of a meaningful life that should be considered important dimensions of recovery from homelessness. The extent to which homeless services support individuals to achieve the capabilities they need to become who they want to be and do what they want to do is, in turn, an important indicator of their effectiveness. In this study, we developed a measure of achieved capabilities (MACHS) for use in homeless services settings, and assessed its construct and concurrent validity. Methods We analysed da…

El projecte Rehoboth: una anàlisi de discursos narratius de les persones sense llar en temps de crisi

2014

This project is based on the perspective of qualitative research and social action, attempting to approach the world of homelessness in times of crisis. Its aim is to work in a triple approach: firstly to analyze situations of fragility and vulnerability that exist in Spanish society today, and how they can affect the circumstances of homelessness; secondly, to present a project that responds to the needs and care of homeless people through a social initiative based on participation, solidarity and volunteerism: the Rehoboth project; thirdly, to analyze and describe the narrative accounts of the people involved in this situation, by reflecting the circumstances that contribute to weakening …
