†Background and Aims Satellite DNA is a genomic component present in virtually all eukaryotic organisms. The turnover of highly repetitive satellite DNA is an important element in genome organization and evolution in plants. Here we assess the presence and physical distribution of the repetitive DNA E180 family in Medicago and allied genera. Forty rhizobial strains were isolated from root nodules of Medicago littoralis Rhode and Melilotus indicus (L.) harvested from the sandy soils of Touggourt’s oases in the Oued Righ Valley, Algerian Sahara. The isolates were studied for their cultural, biochemical and symbiotic effectiveness. All of them were fast-growing bacteria; utilized a wide range of carbon sources, produced abundant extracellular polysaccharides, tolerated high concentrations of NaCl (up to 2.5 %), grew at temperatures between 28 and 45 °C and at pH values between 4.5 and 9. Polish Yellow Sweet Clover (Melilotus officinalis L.) Honey, Chromatographic Fingerprints, and Chemical Markers

A case study of Polish Melilotus officinalis honey was presented for the first time. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) (after steam distillation, Soxhlet extraction, ultrasonic solvent extraction, and solid phase extraction (SPE)) and targeted high performance liquid chromatography with a photodiode array detector (HPLC-PAD) were applied to determine the characteristic components of honey. While ubiquitous in most honeys, carbohydrates, terpene derivatives, and phenylacetic acid dominated in the Soxhlet extracts (25.54%) and in the application of SPE (13.04%).
