Direct evidence of secondary recoiled nuclei from high energy protons
2008
The production of secondary recoiled particles from interactions between high energy protons and microelectronics devices was investigated. By using NAND Flash memories, we were able to directly obtain analog information on recoil characteristics. While our results qualitatively confirm the role of nuclear reactions, in particular of those with tungsten, a quantitative model based on Monte Carlo and device-level simulations cannot describe the observed results in terms of recoils from proton-W reactions. © 2006 IEEE.

Pētījuma „Autobiogrāfisko atmiņu par laulību dzimumatšķirības pēc laulības šķiršanas” mērķis bija izpētīt autobiogrāfiskās atmiņas sievietēm un vīriešiem pēc laulības šķiršanas un atklāt, vai pastāv būtiskas atšķirības starp autobiogrāfiskajām atmiľām sievietēm un vīriešiem. Pētījumā piedalījās 60 respondenti, 30 sievietes un 30 vīrieši, kuriem ir šķirta laulība ar Latvijas Civillikuma Ģimenes tiesību daļas noteikumiem vai kuri ir laulības šķiršanas procesā, vecumā no 30 līdz 45 gadiem (M=38,13; SD= 4,47). Tarkastelen artikkelissani, millaisia haasteita historioitsija kohtaa tehdessään tutkimusta arkistoihin tallennettua etnografista muistitietoa lähteenä käyttäen. Tämä muistitieto on voitu kerätä ja tallentaa eri arkistoihin jo aiempina vuosikymmeninä ja -satoina, mutta se poikkeaa kuitenkin luonteeltaan historiantutkimuksen perinteisesti käyttämistä asiakirjalähteistä siten, että varsinkin varhaisemmalla ajalla muistitieto on usein kerätty haastattelujen avulla ja kerääjä on sitten muuntanut sen kirjalliseen muotoon kirjoittamalla sen muistiin omin sanoin, äänittämättä tai muuten tallentamatta haastattelutilannetta kokonaisuudessaan. Izstādi “Studentu dziesmu un deju festivāls “Gaudeamus” dalībnieku atmiņās” veido bijušo un esošo Latvijas Universitātes pašdarbības kolektīvu dalībnieku fotogrāfijas no dažādiem svētkiem un ar svētkiem saistītām aktivitātēm – mēģinājumiem, svētku gājieniem un koncertiem. Tāpat izstādē iespējams iepazīties ar bijušā Deju folkloras kopas “Dandari” dalībnieka Aivara Narvaiša iespaidiem par “Gaudeamus” svētkiem, nelielu izstādē apskatāmo svētku vēsturi un interesantāko informāciju, kā arī festivāla “Gaudeamus” hronoloģiju.

Listening to music often triggers strong memories of events from our past, which influence how we affectively experience music listening and can therefore contribute to music’s therapeutic capacity. The aim of this study was to examine the valence and content of spontaneous music-evoked autobiographical memories (MEAMs) in listeners with self-reported depression, who typically demonstrate negatively biased autobiographical memory. Childhood memories of R. Gary (Promise of the Morning) and J.-P. Sartre (Words) reflect a traumatic search for the identity of orphan boys. The modest image of the father contrasts in them with the mother’s vision of their future, containing everything that was missing in the lives of mothers. Writing as modus vivendi turned out to be an escape into the world of imagination, which, by protecting them from the real world, allowed them to understand this world.

Inspired by the memories of her own difficult childhood in the shadow of the war, Nathalie Sarraute attempts to show the specificity of this period. In Tropismes (tr. Tropisms) and Enfance (tr. Childhood), she attempts to capture and present the child’s psychological experiences, at the same time refuting the stereotypes associated with this period in life. The subject of the article constitutes memories of native Silesians about childhood, or, more precisely, a selected element of cultural heritage, which are sweets, or maszkety, as they are called in the Silesian dialect. The presented statements were recorded by the author during field research conducted between 2019 and 2021 in Upper Silesia, in two provinces – Opole and Silesia – in rural and urban communities. The collected material reveals a picture of childhood in Poland from the post-war period to the 1980s within the context of specific food items, and their place and importance in the lives of children.
