2020

The Holocaust literature transforms many narrative categories in an attempt to find forms capable of conveying the historical experience of extermination. As an alternative to the impossible mimetic reproduction of reality, many authors resort to the imaginary and its rhetorical and narrative devices to reconstruct the concentrationary experience. The essay aims to trace the forms and functions of phantasmagoria in some texts by Charlotte Delbo where the transfiguration of reality makes the process of remembrance possible and, at the same time, the recomposition of the subject.

2019

In Georges Perec's works the identity reflection and the relationship with Jewish origins constitute a complex itinerary. Perec will try several times the autobiographical writing but it will be with the novel "W ou le souvenir d'enfance" that he will be able to achieve it. However, among the works that precedes "W ou the souvenir of d’enfance", "Un homme qui dort" a Proustian-inspired novel on urban solitude offers itself as a space for the analysis of Georges Perec's identity writing. The essay reflects on the construction of the neutral narrative, a textual typology theorized by both Barthes and Blanchot, which Perec for the first time experiences in this work to symbolize the crisis of …

Munā al-Šammarī is a Kuwaiti short story writer, novelist, screenwriter and journalist born in Kuwait in 1966. Her first collection of stories, entitled Yasquṭ al-maṭar… tamūt al-amīrah (The rain falls… the princess dies) and published in 2012 describes the anxieties and worries of the inhabitants of Fahaheel (Faḥīḥīl), the small town located in southern Kuwait, where the writer was born and lived her childhood and adolescence and forged her identity. Dendrolatrie. Miti e pratiche dell'immaginario arboreo

2021

Immagini fuori posto. Nodi e intrecci iconografici

2019

The essay summarizes a field research work started in 1998 in Calamonaci (AG). Through the discovery of the diversity and alterity of the endotic, between the known and the familiar, continuously discovered and enriched, the author develops a careful analysis of family images that become the premise and purpose of the research. This field research involved about 300 families and then became a photographic exhibition, with a catalog, experienced, shared and participated by the community. In this work, the author has adopted a participatory research method trying to understand how the photographic image, almost always thought of as the referent of the reality represented, with each new vision…

“Tutta la memoria del mondo”. Alain Resnais, W.G. Sebald, Thomas Browne e il generale Stumm von Bordwehr

2021

JR's street art actions reflect on the life and history of cities and the ways of living there. The giant images of the faces of the inhabitants proposed in their own places of life invite to project the memory into the present using the power of photography to interpret faces: no longer masks but living representations, witnesses of the symbiotic relationship between inhabitants and cities.

Aging and prospective memory: the role of working memory and monitoring processes

2008

Background and aims: Remembering to execute an earlier planned action is essential in everyday life, and is a prerequisite for independent living in old age. The purpose of the present study was to determine the influence of age in performing a prospective memory (PM) task and to analyze the differential contribution of working memory and attentional monitoring demands. Methods: In Experiment 1, a group of young and two groups of old adults were assigned to one of two low-demanding conditions: a picture-naming task (only-Naming) and a picture-naming plus a PM task (Naming+PM). In Experiment 2, a group of young and two groups of old adults performed one of two high-demanding conditions, in w…

Robotic and virtual World Programming labs to Stimulate Reasoning and visual-spatial Abilities

2013

Abstract The individuals’ cognitive skills, academic performance and their relationship with programming of robots or virtual learning environment is a topic of particular interest in the area of human-robot interaction. This paper presents a pilot study performed on a group of 36 lower secondary school students involved in a 32-hours laboratory based on the combination of LEGO Mindstorm NXT and Microsoft Kodu Game Lab (KGL) and aimed at programming first a robot and further a more complete virtual world based on a narrative-designed scenario. The findings of the research will be discussed in the light of the effectiveness of using robotics and virtual world programming as a meaningful and …
