User experience and the security of graphical passwords

2015

heritage and culture as instruments of qualification of urban spaces : the case of the Musée Urbain Tony Garnier

2014

International audience; In this essay we will bring up the question of designing atypical objects, in this case, social housing, as cultural heritage. The continuing process of development of western cities raises new questions concerning division of living-areas produces districts of mixed populations, together with phenomena of social differentiation. Heritage and culture are henceforward tools for distinguishing social spaces and the groups of the associations movement unceasingly produces new heritage-artefacts, sometimes in contradiction with the administrative services of universe of heritage, and the concept of public good is in a certain way made use of in growing phenomena of urban…

Wędrując śladami umarłych. Foto-teksty Dašy Drndić

2018

W artykule zestawione zostają fragmenty z dwóch książek April u Berlinu z 2009 r. i EEG z 2016 r.

Cognitive Performance and Psychological Distress in Breast Cancer Patients at Disease Onset

2019

ObjectiveMany cancer patients complain about cognitive dysfunction. While cognitive deficits have been attributed to the side effects of chemotherapy, there is evidence for impairment at disease onset, prior to cancer-directed therapy. Further debated issues concern the relationship between self-reported complaints and objective test performance and the role of psychological distress.MethodWe assessed performance on neuropsychological tests of attention and memory and obtained estimates of subjective distress and quality of life in 27 breast cancer patients and 20 healthy controls. Testing in patients took place shortly after the initial diagnosis, but prior to subsequent therapy.ResultsWhi…

Impairment in Theory of Mind in Parkinson's Disease Is Explained by Deficits in Inhibition

2019

Objective: Several studies have reported that people with Parkinson's disease (PD) perform poorly on tests of Theory of Mind' (ToM), suggesting impairment in the ability to understand and infer other people's thoughts and feelings. However, few studies have sought to separate the processes involved in social reasoning from those involved in managing the inhibitory demands on these tests. In this study, we investigated the contribution of inhibition to ToM performance in PD. Methods. 18 PD patients and 22 age-matched healthy controls performed a ToM test that separates the ability to infer someone else's perspective from the ability to inhibit one's own. Participants also completed a battery…

Hippocampal theta phase-contingent memory retrieval in delay and trace eyeblink conditioning

2017

Hippocampal theta oscillations (3–12 Hz) play a prominent role in learning. It has been suggested that encoding and retrieval of memories are supported by different phases of the theta cycle. Our previous study on trace eyeblink conditioning in rabbits suggests that the timing of the conditioned stimulus (CS) in relation to theta phase affects encoding but not retrieval of the memory trace. Here, we directly tested the effects of hippocampal theta phase on memory retrieval in two experiments conducted on adult female New Zealand White rabbits. In Experiment 1, animals were trained in trace eyeblink conditioning followed by extinction, and memory retrieval was tested by presenting the CS at …

From experiencing sites of past to the future of the Demolition Man and how graffiti fits to all

2019

This paper explores the possibilities graffiti can provide to research user experience, focusing in those that might emerge in urban environments. The concept of User Experience (UX) can be seen as a consciously experienced phenomenon entailing for example biological, psychological and cultural, spatial and temporal aspects. Graffiti can be used as a tool to study experiences and meanings in physical and social places and practices. This can be done by studying direct experiences while completing a task, but also for example by narratives and memories involving graffiti. As the technology develops, it is incorporated in our lives, becoming more adaptive and virtual. This might have a strong…
