Long-term organic farming on a citrus plantation results in soil organic carbon recovery
2019

Information sources used for vacation tourists in tourist destinations
2012
This research examines …
The Logic of Gift: Inspiring behavior in organizations beyond the limits of duty and exchange
2016
[EN] Giving without the expectation of reward is difficult to understand in organizational contexts. In opposition to a logic based on self-interest or a sense of duty, a "logic of gift" has been proposed as a way to understand the phenomenon of free, unconditional giving. However, the rationale behind, and effects of, this logic have been under-explored. This paper responds by first clarifying the three logics of action¿the logic of exchange, the logic of duty, and the logic of gift¿and then explains how their balanced integration promises to enhance organizational life and outcomes. Having explicated the unique character and contributions of the logic of gift, the paper further suggests p…
Commuting and local labour market areas in the Region of Valencia, Spain, 1991-2001
2007
This article deals with the evolution of commuting in the Region of Valencia, Spain, between 1991 and 200…
Political candidates in infotainment programmes and their emotional effects on Twitter: an analysis of the 2015 Spanish general elections pre-campaig…
2017
[EN] The infotainment format offers candidates an informal setting to show a more personal side of themselves to the electorate, opening themselves up to potential voters. An example of media hybridisation, social networks users can immediately comment on infotainment television programmes, a process known as second screening. These second screeners tend to be especially active in politics. This paper analyses the immediate emotional reaction of these users as they watch infotainment programmes that air during the campaign or pre-campaign seasons and feature political candidates as guests. We have confirmed that second screeners react more emotionally towards the candidate when his or her p…
How local conditions affect global banking: the case of BBVA and Santander
2021
This paper explores why Spanish banks internationalize and why Latin America has been the main region for the international expansion of BBVA and Santander. It shows that prior to 1986 Spanish banks had a limited presence abroad, and analyses the main drivers of this initial expansion (remittances and trade connections). However, from 1986 on, there was a confluence of domestic and external factors (economic and regulatory changes in Latin America) that encouraged the international forays of BBVA and Santander. The fact that changes in the Spanish and Latin American financial sectors occurred just when other transnational banks were turning their attention to other regions created the optim…
2022
[EN] The participation of politicians in social media is increasingly necessary in order to gain visibility. However, the logic of content dissemination is very different from conventional media. In social media, building a broad and varied base of followers facilitates a greater impact of the message. This article analyses the influence of various individual factors of the candidates on two aspects of the process: variation in the number of followers and multiplatform presence. Both issues are assessed on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram in the context of three general elections held in Spain during the 2010s. The results show that the age and gender of the candidates, their frequency of p…
Sponsored consumer-generated advertising in the digital era: what prompts individuals to generate video ads, and what creative strategies do they ado…
2021
This study investigates individuals’ motivations to create sponsored video ads in response to corporate online advertising competitions, and the creative strategies they employ when so doing. The findings from two studies that combined qualitative (42 semi-structured interviews and netnography) and quantitative (content analysis of 1,102 ads) research methods showed that individuals are motivated to produce sponsored video advertising by six factors: learning, enjoyment, self-expression, remuneration, recognition and influencing others. In turn, these motivations can be categorised as intrinsic, extrinsic, rational and affective, leading to a typology of four advertising creators. It was fo…
