The Effects of New Emerging Technologies on Human Resources : Emergence of Industry 4.0, a Necessary Evil?
2017
Master's thesis Business Administration BE501 - University of Agder 2017 Based on dynamic capability theory and existing literature, the study empirically investigates the effects of new emerging technologies on human resources; to know if the emergence of Industry 4.0 is a necessary evil or not. Descriptive research design with deductive qualitative analysis (DQA) method was used to analyse data obtained from 6 companies in Norway. Consistent with the two hypotheses deduced in our study, results confirmed in the first place that new emerging technologies have positive effect on human resources productivity. Impact of ethical certifications and product involvement on consumers decision to purchase ethical products at price premiums in an emerging market c…
2021
AbstractIn emerging markets, instances of increasing consumers focus on ethical aspects of the product are observed. To this end, we aim to examine the influence of two ethical certifications and two product involvement types on consumers willingness to purchase ethical products at price premiums in the Indian market. No animal cruelty certification and no child labor certification are chosen as the ethical certifications, and a shirt and a bar of soap are chosen as high and low involvement product categories. Data is collected from 206 respondents for the experiment, in which consumers willingness to purchase a product is evaluated for different product scenarios. The results of the study …
The impact of COVID ‐19 on franchising in emerging markets: An example from Brazil
2020
The outbreak of COVID‐19, the disease caused by the SARS‐CoV‐2 virus, has had significant economic, political, and social consequences worldwide. It illustrat…
The impact of private equity on firms in emerging markets : evidence from Ghana
2017
Master's thesis Business Administration BE501 - University of Agder 2017 In the last decade, most emerging markets have been associated with new investment opportunities and some growth prospects that attract private equity (hereafter, PE) investors. Regions with growing interest of PE investments include Africa and Asia. Research on PE impact on recipient firms in developed economies are voluminous and has proven that PE plays a remarkable role in firms’ success. Until now, such performance implications on firms in emerging markets are limited in study. Our study focuses on the impact of PE funding on financial performance of firms in emerging markets using Ghana as a case. Using data from…
Development of a Virtual CH Path on WEB: Integration of a GIS, VR, and Other Multimedia Data
2021
Recent advances in computer science allowed people to explore new possibilities for the fruition of CH all around the world. The development of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the field of territorial systems and the evolution of Virtual Reality (VR) solutions opened new scenarios for the valorization of cultural goods. At the same time, recent advances in digital photogrammetry and 3D interactive navigation models on WEB-based on WebGL technologies offered new opportunities of digital fruition of CH. Considering this panorama, the presented work shows how the integration of these technologies gives a precious added value to the virtual fruition of CH. In particular, it has been con…
Perceived problems with collateral: The value of informal networking
2020
Abstract Many businesses in emerging economies are financially constrained due to their limited use of formal loans. Recent evidence suggests that negative perceptions discourage entrepreneurs from applying for loans. One of the main issues entrepreneurs mention is unattainable collateral requirements. In this paper, we contribute to this line of research by investigating the effect of networking with fellow entrepreneurs on perceived collateral problems. Drawing on quantitative and qualitative data originating from female entrepreneurs in Tanzania, we find that through networking, entrepreneurs are exposed to stories of their peers’ experiences with loans which influence their perceptions …

Programmable VLSI cubic-like function implementation
2006
An analogue VLSI implementation of a cubic-like function is presented, whose design is focused to reduce the circuit complexity. Simulations show that the V–I characteristic of the circuit resembles a cubic function, which can be easily adjusted by changing the bias parameters.
