Nanoparticle-Directed Metal–Organic Framework/Porous Organic Polymer Monolithic Supports for Flow-Based Applications

A two-step nanoparticle-directed route for the preparation of macroporous polymer monoliths for which the pore surface is covered with a metal–organic framework (MOF) coating has been developed to facilitate the use of MOFs in flow-based applications. The flow-through monolithic matrix was prepared in a column format from a polymerization mixture containing ZnO-nanoparticles. These nanoparticles embedded in the precursor monolith were converted to MOF coatings via the dissolution–precipitation equilibrium after filling the pores of the monolith with a solution of the organic linker. My underlying premise is that some linguistic messages or images convey information which is picked up by teenagers creating in them the desire to obtain certain products. New heteronuclear gold(I)-platinum(II) complexes with cytotoxic properties: are two metals better than one?

A series of mono- and heterodinuclear gold(I) and platinum(II) complexes with a new bipyridylamine-phosphine ligand have been synthesized and characterized. The X-ray structures of the ligand precursor 4-iodo-N,N-di(pyridin-2-yl)benzamide, and of one gold derivative are reported. All the complexes display antiproliferative properties in vitro in human cancer cells in the range of cisplatin or higher, which appear to correlate with compounds' uptake. Interestingly, studies of the interactions of the compounds with models of DNA indicate different mechanisms of actions with respect to cisplatin. The presence of free silanols on alkyl-bonded reversed-phase stationary phases is responsible for broad and asymmetrical peaks when basic drugs are chromatographed with conventional octadecylsilane (C18) columns due to ionic interactions. Gold-Catalyzed Intramolecular Hydroamination of o-Alkynylbenzyl Carbamates: A Route to Chiral Fluorinated Isoindoline and Isoquinoline Derivatives

Enantiomerically pure fluorinated isoindoline and dihydroisoquinoline scaffolds have been prepared through a diastereoselective addition of fluorinated nucleophiles to Ellman’s N-(tert-butanesulfinyl)imines followed by a sequence of Sonogashira cross-coupling/gold(I)-catalyzed cycloisomerization of the corresponding carbamate. A more favored 5-exo-dig mechanism was observed mainly due to an electronic effect of the fluorinated group.

Abstract In this paper we focus on two sources of enhancement in accuracy and computational demanding in approximating a function and its derivatives by means of the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics method. The approximating power of the standard method is perceived to be poor and improvements can be gained making use of the Taylor series expansion of the kernel approximation of the function and its derivatives. The modified formulation is appealing providing more accurate results of the function and its derivatives simultaneously without changing the kernel function adopted in the computation.
