Network Reconfiguration Suitability for Scientific Applications

This paper analyzes the communication pattern of several scientific applications and how they can make profit of network reconfiguration in order to adapt network topology to the communication needs so that total execution time is reduced. By using an analysis methodology based on real application executions, we study the variation of the required communication bandwidth with time and also the global interprocedural communication patterns. Results show that required bandwidth between each pair of processes does not significantly fluctuates, leading to a constant use of the links and therefore discouraging dynamic reconfigurations of the network during execution time. As ubiquitous virtual reality (U-VR) systems become more and more popular and several systems coexist all together, sharing events between them in order to improve the user experience and increase their scope and functionality will be mandatory. Since U-VR systems have a dynamic and decoupled nature, and they have their own event model, we propose in this paper a semantic publish/subscribe infrastructure that lies on a description logics reasoner and OWL ontologies for managing heterogeneous event models and performing the matching of events and subscriptions in such U-VR systems.

Subcontracting is a common practice in road transport, especially in parcel transport operations. Parcel transport is defined as the collection and distribution of shipments of less than three tons. Deliveries and pick-up rounds in urban areas present some specificities (such as difficult traffic and parking situations) which contribute in the high the use of subcontracting within the parcel transport sector. Artikkelen undersoker literacy-syn og kvalitetstrekk i abc-apper fra kommersielle produsenter ved a analysere ni abc-apper for norskspraklige forskolebarn. Undersokelsen er teoretisk forankra i sosiokulturell literacy-forskning og sosialsemiotiske perspektiver pa multimodalitet og semiotisk teknologi. Analysen viser at appene domineres av sju typer literacy-aktiviteter: bokstav-lyd-kopling, bokstavutforming, staving, hukommelsesaktiviteter, tekstproduksjon, lesing og sang.
