Sustainable environmental management often involves long-term time horizons and multiple conflicting objectives and, by nature, is affected by different sources of uncertainty. Many sources of uncertainty, such as climate change or government policies, cannot be addressed using probabilistic models, and, therefore, they can be seen to contain deep uncertainty. In this setting, the variety of possible future states is represented as a set of scenarios lacking any information about the likelihood of occurring. Agricultural intensification has led to structurally simplified landscapes with reduced and fragmented resources for farmland insects. However, studies on the effects of landscape composition on farmland insects have mainly been performed in areas dominated by open arable land and semi-natural grasslands, while studies from forest-dominated landscapes are scarce. This research examined the effects of landscape composition on hoverfly species richness and abundance in arable land in boreal forest-dominated landscapes. Hiilidioksidipitoisuuden kasvu ilmakehässä on tärkein syy antropogeeniseen ilmastonmuutokseen, ja nopeita toimia tarvitaan, jotta maapallon keskilämpötilan nousu saataisiin rajattua 2 °C asteeseen. Hiilidioksidipitoisuuden lisääntyminen johtuu muun muassa fossiilisten polttoaineiden käytöstä ja metsäpinta-alan pienenemisestä. Metsät sitovat kasvaessaan ilmakehän hiiltä itseensä ja toimivat siten hiilinieluina ja -varastoina. Toisaalta metsien hyödyntämisellä raaka-aineena on suuri taloudellinen merkitys Suomessa. Kansallispuistojen perustaminen on keskeinen osa luonnonsuojelun historiaa Suomessa. Tarkoituksenani on selvittää kansallispuistojen kehitystä ja erityisesti niiden perustamisprosessia Keski-Suomessa. Tutkimuksessa keskitytään Pyhä-Häkin, Salamajärven, Isojärven ja Leivonmäen kansallispuistoihin. Lähestymistapani pohjaa ympäristöhistoriaan, eli otan huomioon tutkimuksessa ihmisen ja ympäristön suhteen. Ensimmäiset kansallispuistot perustettiin Suomeen vuonna 1938. Ensimmäinen keskisuomalainen kansallispuisto (Pyhä-Häkki) perustettiin vuonna 195, seuraavat vasta 1980-luvulla. 1950- ja 1970-lukujen välillä kansallispuistojen hoito, kehittäminen ja suunnittelu olivat huonolla tolalla, sillä ka…
