The most recent version of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) consensus guidelines for the treatment of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) was published in 2016, identifying both a more strategic approach to the administration of the available systemic therapy choices, and a greater emphasis on the use of ablative techniques, including surgery. Abstract Aims We systematically characterized metastatic murine B16-F10 melanoma, a sub-line derived from murine melanoma B16-F1 cells. Materials and methods RNA-sequencing and network analyses (Ingenuity Pathway Analysis) were performed to identify novel potential metastasis mechanisms. Chromosomal aberrations were identified by multicolor fluorescence in situ hybridization (mFISH) using all 21 murine whole chromosome painting probes. Key findings Numerous genes were overexpressed in B16-F10 cells, some of which have been already described as being metastasis-linked. Abstract Background We report an unusual case of infective colitis by Yersinia enterocolitica complicated by microliver abscesses mimicking multiple liver metastases in a 79 yr old female without any risk factors for bacteriaemia by this pathogen. Background: Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare neuroendocrine skin tumor, which may be related to sun exposure. It can metastasize to lungs, liver and bone, leading to severe morbidity and mortality. Vertebral metastases from MCC are rare. The authors report the tenth case in the literature, a 59-year-old patient with MCC, which was primarily localized in the scalp, and later provoked distant metastasis to the thoracic spinal column.
