Adaptive Backstepping Control of a 2-DOF Helicopter

This paper proposes an adaptive nonlinear controller for a 2-Degree of Freedom (DOF) helicopter. The proposed controller is designed using backstepping control technique and is used to track the pitch and yaw position references independently. A MIMO nonlinear mathematical model is derived for the 2DOF helicopter based on Euler-Lagrange equations, where the system parameters and the control coefficients are uncertain. Unlike some existing control schemes for the helicopter control, the developed controller does not require the knowledge on the system uncertain parameters. Distributed Adaptive Consensus Tracking Control of Uncertain High-order Nonlinear Systems under Directed Graph Condition

In this paper, we investigate the output consensus tracking problem for a class of high-order nonlinear systems subjected to unknown parameters and uncertain external disturbances. A novel backstepping based distributed adaptive control scheme is presented under the directed communication status. For the subsystems without direct access to time-varying desired trajectory, local estimators are introduced and the corresponding adaptive laws are designed in a totally distributed fashion. The prognostics objective is to avoid sudden machinery breakdowns and to estimate the remaining useful life after initial degradation. Typically, physical health indicators are derived from available sensor data, and a mathematical model is tuned to fit them. The time it takes for the model to reach a failure threshold is the estimated remaining useful life. The failure threshold may be determined from historical failure data, but that is not always readily available. Both leader–follower and leaderless cases are considered in a unified framework. Fractional-Order System Identification of Viscoelastic Behavior: A Frequency Domain Based Experimental Study

In this work, the fractional-order modeling of viscoelastic behavior is investigated based on measurement data in the frequency domain. For the results of two different test setups we apply existing parameter estimation algorithms designed for fractional-order transfer functions. These algorithms require a priori knowledge of the system structure including the commensurate order of differentiation. An iterative procedure is used to evaluate the influence of the unknown structure. The measured polymer samples show a viscoelastic stress response. Optimization of Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Model Based on Measured Data Using Genetic Algorithm

In this paper, a mathematical model for vehicle-to-vehicle frontal crash is developed. The experimental data are taken from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. To model the crash scenario, the two vehicles are represented by two masses moving in opposite directions. The front structures of the vehicles are modeled by Kelvin elements, consisting of springs and dampers in parallel, and estimated as piecewise linear functions of displacements and velocities, respectively. International audience; The influence of quadratic stress, crystallographic texture, lubrication and surface roughness generated by superfinish turning on the corrosion behaviour of pure copper was quantified in salt-fog atmosphere. This was done using statistical analysis (Pearson's correlation matrix). Three compounds were found after corrosion tests: atacamite/paratacamite and a black layer (mixture of the lubricant and the salt atmosphere).
