2013
The review of internet marketing use in Latvia's companies
2017
Development of new technologies and increasing competition require new solutions in business applications in internet marketing and advertising. The paper deals with issues related to advertising activities in internet marketing. There were presented both theoretical findings and empirical analysis of the survey conducted among Latvia's companies. The survey was carried out with the assistance of telemarketing company (telephone interviews) among companies selected from Register of Enterprises LURSOFT. The analysis of survey results compared companies responses depending on the company size and turnover changes during the last three years. Various statistical indicators were used for this a…
Simulations of non-spherical particles suspended in a shear flow
2000
The lattice-Boltzmann method was used to investigate the effects of the shape and concentration of the particles on the rheological properties of non-Brownian suspensions for non-zero Reynolds numbers. Several case studies were analyzed and the methods used were found to give accurate predictions for these systems. The viscosity of suspensions of both spherical and non-spherical particles was determined as functions of shear rate and concentration of particles. It was shown that, for high shear rates, shear thickening appears. This phenomenon is particularly pronounced for particles of irregular shape.
Experimental and theoretical studies of Λ doublings and permanent electric dipoles in the low-lying Π1 states of NaCs
2006
We present experimental data on the electric permanent dipole moments d(v',J') and lambda splittings (q factors) in the quasidegenerate (3) 1pi(e/f) state of the NaCs molecule over a wide range of the vibrational (v') and rotational (J') quantum numbers by using the combination of dc Stark mixing and electric radio frequency-optical double resonance methods. Within the experimental (3) 1pi state v' ranged from v' = 0 to 34, q values exhibited a pronounced decrease from 7.91x10(-6) to 0.47x10(-6) cm(-1), while absolute value(d) values varied between 8.0 and 5.0 D. Experimental evaluation yielded small d values about 1 D for D2 1pi state v'3 levels. The experiment is supported by ab initio el…
Ab initio calculations for the far infrared collision induced absorption by N2 gas
2014
We present (far-infrared) Collision Induced Absorption (CIA) spectra calculations for pure gaseous N2 made for the first time, from first-principles. They were carried out using classical molecular dynamics simulations based on ab initio predictions of both the intermolecular potential and the induced-dipole moment. These calculations reproduce satisfactory well the experimental values (intensity and band profile) with agreement within 3% at 149 K. With respect to results obtained with only the long range (asymptotic) dipole moment (DM), including the short range overlap contribution improves the band intensity and profile at 149 K, but it deteriorates them at 296 K. The results show that t…
A model for managing and evaluating solar radiation for indoor thermal comfort
2007
Thermal comfort of people occupying indoor spaces depends, to a large extent, on the direct component of solar radiation incident on the human body. In turn, even the diffuse component of the solar radiation could affect the thermal sensations of people. Despite this evidence, at the present there is a lack in the availability of simple and reliable methods capable of taking into account the influence of the solar radiation on thermal balance in the human body. In this work a comprehensive method is presented for the computation of the mean radiant temperature of people in thermal moderate indoor environments in the presence of solar radiation. The effects produced on the amount of solar ra…
Triple solutions for nonlinear elliptic problems driven by a non-homogeneous operator
2020
Abstract Some multiplicity results for a parametric nonlinear Dirichlet problem involving a nonhomogeneous differential operator of p -Laplacian type are given. Via variational methods, the article furnishes new contributions and completes some previous results obtained for problems considering other types of differential operators and/or nonlinear terms satisfying different asymptotic conditions.
Elliptic problems with convection terms in Orlicz spaces
2021
Abstract The existence of a solution to a Dirichlet problem, for a class of nonlinear elliptic equations, with a convection term, is established. The main novelties of the paper stand on general growth conditions on the gradient variable, and on minimal assumptions on Ω. The approach is based on the method of sub and supersolutions. The solution is a zero of an auxiliary pseudomonotone operator build via truncation techniques. We present also some examples in which we highlight the generality of our growth conditions.
IMPLICIT MESH DISCONTINUOUS GALERKIN FOR VARIABLE ANGLE TOW MULTILAYERED PLATES
2018
This works presents a novel computational scheme for variable angle tow (VAT) multilayered plates [1]. The characteristic features of the proposed scheme are the combined use of a discontinuous Galerkin (dG) formulation and an implicitly defined mesh. The formulation is based on the principle of virtual displacements (PVD) and the Equivalent Single Layer (ESL) assumption for the mechanical behavior of the VAT plates [2]. The problem is first placed within the dG framework by suitably introducing an auxiliary variable and by rewriting the set of equations governing ESL VAT plates as a firstorder system of differential equations. Following Arnold et al.[3] and by introducing suitably defined …
