Measuring Performance in the Luxury Industry: Is there a Difference in Performance Between the top and Bottom Players in the Industry?

Abstract This paper presents a methodology that consists of a Z-score function applied on a set of indicators for the luxury industry and then standardized to obtain a ranking of the companies on a scale between 10 and 100. To measure the performance for the top 5 LVMH, Estee Lauder, Richemont, Kering, Essilor Luxottica, and bottom 5 Aeffe, Tribhovandas, Van de Velde, Mulberry, Trinity companies (based on Deloitte global ranking in 2019) in the luxury industry and to unveil which are the performance drivers. Human capital formation : state or market management This paper examines the likely difficulties of the management by the state of the education sector. Concerning the operation of the system, the analysis is based on international comparisons and on the French experience. As a whole the difficulties are linked to the weak accountability and justification in the use of the resources mobilized. This arises from the absence of the regulatory mechanisms as those existing in a market oriented activity. Policy decisions in education cannot be made upon opinions and subjectives factors ; this is especially true in African countries where demographic and economic constraints are particularly binding. A key element is to measure the impact of the various factors affecting student learning, even though this step has to be complemented by cost estimates so as to produce cost-efficiency indicators. Bakalaura darba tēma ir “Naratīva struktūra un kino stils Giljermo del Toro filmās “Pāna labirints”, “Purpura smaile” un “Ūdens forma””. Pētījuma mērķis ir saprast naratīvo struktūru un režisoriskās iezīmes, jeb stila iezīmes Giljermo del Toro filmās, šim mērķim teoritiskāja daļa tiek apskatītas kino valodas, semiotikas un naratīva teoriju tēmas. Lietojot semiotisko analīzi, naratīvo analīzi, kā arī izmantojot kinozinātnieka Jurija Civjana (Yuri Tsivian) rīku “Cinemetrics” tiks analizētas augstākminētās kinofilmas. Analizējot pētījumā rezultātus secināt par režisora kino stilu un filmu naratīvo analīzi.
