Transport engineering and reduction in crime: the Medellín case

This study analyses the impact of the aerial cable car public transport system, locally known as Metrocable, in Medellín (Colombia), on the reduction in crime. As part of the municipal policies of social urbanism, Metrocable has contributed to the social integration of the population in the outlying neighbourhoods, which has increased safety in Medellín. This case is clearly of great interest from the point of view of Criminal Sciences, demonstrating how crime can be combated by using tools beyond ius puniendi. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.4995/CIT2016.2016.3434

Attitudes toward the SARS-CoV-2 and Influenza Vaccination in the Metropolitan Cities of Bologna and Palermo, Italy

Vaccine hesitancy (VH) is known to play a relevant role in thwarting the efforts toward reaching satisfactory influenza vaccination coverage, and has caused similar difficulties during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to describe the phenomenon and produce insights on the reasons behind VH. A survey was administered between December 2020 and February 2021 to adults living in the cities of Bologna and Palermo. Of the 443 subjects enrolled, 47.3% were likely to get the influenza vaccination, while 75.6% were willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. La tesis doctoral tiene como objetivo analizar la relación entre la estructura urbana y la movilidad en el Área Metropolitana de Valencia. El análisis consta de dos fases: un estudio evolutivo del área (1902,1943, 1987, 2017) y un análisis de la situación actual. Uno de los mayores retos del estudio evolutivo ha sido reconstruir la información desde principios de siglo para obtener variables comparables (morfología urbana, medios de transporte y localización de la población). Nos detenemos más en las combinaciones utilizadas, sin olvidamos de la diéresis bucólica. Tratamos de ver si hay desviaciones de la norma clásica buscando las posibles razones de dicho desvío. 3D reconstruction of hot metallic surfaces for industrial part characterization

During industrial forging of big hot metallic shells, it is necessary to regularly measure the dimensions of the parts, especially the inner and outer diameters and the thickness of the walls, in order to decide when to stop the forging process. The inner and outer diameters of the shells range from 4 to 6 meters and to measure them a large ruler is placed horizontally at the end of the shell. Two blacksmiths standing on each side of the ruler at about ten meters from it visually reads the graduations on the ruler in order to determine the inner and outer diameters from which the thickness of the wall is determined.
