Comparison between catalytic and catalytic photo-assisted propene hydration by using supported heteropolyacid

Abstract Hybrid materials have been prepared by impregnation of the heteropolyacid H 3 PW 12 O 40 on commercial TiO 2 . The polyoxometalates (POM) amount deposited was 15, 30, 50 and 70% with respect to the weight of the TiO 2 support. Moreover two samples containing a POM amount of 15, and 50% with respect to the weight of SiO 2 were also prepared for the sake of comparison. All prepared samples were efficient catalysts for the hydration of propene to 2-propanol in gas–solid regime at atmospheric pressure and at temperatures ranging between 50 and 85 °C. Invasive Observation by Atomic Force Microscope of a Langmuir-Blodgett Monolayer of Gramicidin

The properties of gramicidin, a linear antibiotic polypeptide of 15 amino acids, have been studied at the air-water interface. Analysis of the pressure-area isotherm is not able to conclude about the conformational behavior of gramicidin in the monolayer. Langmuir-Blodgett deposition of gramicidin layers onto a mica substrate has been developed for atomic force microscopy (AFM) observations. At high pressure of deposition, the gramicidin monolayer is composed of dimers perpendicular to the surface. The possibility of removing the half upper part of this dimer monolayer with the AFM tip is more in favor of a structure of single-stranded helical dimers.

Nell'areale Nord le produzioni più elevate sono state conseguite dalle varietà più tardive Aveny, Gniady e Teo BD40,insieme alle più precoci Genziana, Bionda e Alcudia. Nelle aree del Centro-sud oltre ad Aveny, Genziana e Gniady, si sono distinte anche Primula e Hamal. Nelle isole si sono differenziate Primula, Alcudia, Genziana, Stella D'oro e Hamel.

Biodiesel has become more attractive recently because of its environmental benefits and the fact that it is made from renewable resources. Biodiesel is a mixture of monoalkyl esters of long chain fatty acids derived from renewable feed stock like vegetable oils and animal fats, mainly made of fatty acid glycerides. It is produced by transesterification processes in which oil or fat are reacted with a monohydric alcohol in the presence of a catalyst. The transesterification process is affected by reaction conditions, alcohol to oil molar ratio, type of alcohol, type and amount of catalysts, temperature and purity of reactants. A corpus of drawings attributable to the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and preserved in the Diocesan archive of Mdina, allows us to better understand the reconstruction of the Cathedral of Malta after the earthquake of 1693, which damaged the medieval building. This had already been interested, a few years earlier, bu some works that had affected the presbytery area.
